They took the GM approach there, that’s how the 1.8L LUW is. I’ve replaced the valve cover twice now because of the integrated PCV valve lol.

That’s too bad about the fact the PCV it’s integrated into the cover, and the huge labor costs involved to fix it.

It also sucks it goes into limp mode if the PCV starts to act up. Not a good thing when far away from roads. The fact the valve covers are plastic may not be a big deal by itself, but I’ve seen some of the Ronny Dahl videos where he complained about the electric cooling fans running for minutes after the car shuts off. So yeah, the engine is probably exposed to a lot more heat than it would be in other applications.

I guess all this makes me a bit more skeptical about the claims it’s a reliable engine.

^Or AMW Hellcat-swapped Wrangler on 40s with Genright frame, and still have better parts support than a Grenadier.

The fans running when the engine is off is to help cool off the turbos. Once they’re cool the fans will shut off.

Would not want to live there, I hear way too many car thefts there and in Ottawa that make there way to South Africa. What a racket.

^ *Nigeria. South Africa is a RHD country like the UK and Japan.

The racket is your insurance co. upping your premiums by $500 last year unless you get a tracker installed at one of their approved locations (i.e. that give kickbacks to the insurance co.). Meanwhile the police advise to leave the car keys at the front door to avoid home invasions.

There's a thread on Tacomaworld where a guy's Tacoma was stolen in San Diego and spotted crossing the border into Mexico. Poor guy is never seeing that truck again. And, sounds like he'll be losing his ass on his modifications. I wouldn't expect the insurance company to cover the mods, but it still sucks.

Build a house, not buy a house. I'd take down my existing house and build a new one.

Where "edge of Toronto" is 2.5 hour one way commute? Considering Canadian average salary is $67K and median detached in Toronto is $1,225,000, I don't think many Canadians could afford to live in Toronto unless it is in coffin apartments.

Be sure to leave a few bricks from the old fireplace intact to reduce permit headaches.

"Median" suggests half of the detached houses are less than $1.225 million, which is a lie.

Not like 6th gen, where Toyota just tells you to idle the engine for half a minute.

Sage advice. Fortunately, the new house would be no different, just new. The 10,000L saltwater aquarium and bowling alley will have to wait.

^It's like the $250k Icon-4x4 FJ40s - new frame, new cab, GM LS powertrain, but they keep the VIN plate from the donor vehicle so it's legally a "restoration".
