I like that red switch on the 12v “cigarette lighter” connector. Never seen one mounted on the plug itself. I have the same switch but standard housing. Is that a proprietary switch/cord attached to one of your devices?

Finally got around to replacing the starter… that is not a fun job. Hopefully won’t have to do it again for 18 years

Yes, it's all in the green,but for an optimal driving experience, what would you want to see...99% DD on paved roads...

 

Also, a couple years ago I upgraded from OEM rotors and calipers to Powerstop Z36 package including the calipers...they stop very well and look sharp...however, they have providing some occasional heavy pumping or wobbles...not always, but often enough to become unsavory. What are your suggestions on the brake side of things? I am tired of throwing money in hopes things last longer than they have so I'd like to be on a budget...I don't think front rotors should be costing me $150 each plus shipping...I like the idea of the Frozen Cryo Rotors and have only heard great things regarding them on both 4runners and Tundras, but I cannot justify the price...and the warranty on the Powerstops have long passed...

The calipers are performing well...I think, and I honestly can't see any warpage on the rotors (see?) but the braking needs to be better...the rumble/pumping/heavy vibration is alarming when driving...it's just not consistent. Any ideas or suggestions?

 

Advics rotors and pads are a very good choice.

I checked on Rock Auto, it has the pads but not rotors for some reason. Parts Avatar in Canada has the rotors but not the pads. Maybe they're being phased out? Ebay seems to have many Advics vendors. When I bought rotors and pads for all four corners from the Toyota dealer a few years ago, they said "Advics" on them. Really strong brakes, btw, even with the 319 mm front rotors. The ABS kicks in on clean, dry pavement.

 

You made a good call. The primary difference between the two is that the 5100s are designed for built trucks with extra weight like bumpers and such. So it’s more about that and less about the kind of driving you do. I had 4600s for a few years and they were great on and off the pavement.

 

Changed my oil, rotated the tires, and began the 275K watch. Less than 200 miles away now. Had 96K when I bought her in late 2014. Love this thing.

 

Swapped out a couple amber combo-lenses for some clear spots...a noticeable viewing difference!

 

Shocks and springs arrived yesterday from UPS, box beat to hell but it looks like everything is here.

I finally removed water spots and 20 years of road grime from most of the exterior glass. You can see a huge difference on the sunroof! Here’s a few shots of it halfway through the process.

Hit 275K on the way to work this morning. Eleven years and 179K miles after buying her with 96K in 2014, she's still hands down the best vehicle I've ever had. Me too, wonder if they tune the v8's.

 

They do! Some claim to just buy a Pedal Commander or Sprint Booster for the same effects, but there's more to it...for the v6, your transmission tune will be the most beneficial to feel the positive update!

 

Ya my transmission shifting is terrible. Could be worth it just for that (if the trans tune is part of the v8 tune).

 

The v8 uses the transmission (same as the v6) more efficiently and the v6 tune will make it work better with the v6...it SHOULD be part of the OTT tune...for the v8, which is only offered for the non-vvt v8s (2003-2004) but it opens up the breathing better...supposedly...I'm excited to see this through, through you!

 

Good thing i have an '04 then. Not that i have the money for a tune at the moment. But something to keep in the back of my mind.

 

Forgive my ignorance here, but roughly what is the cost for the OTT? My '05 V6 could benefit from a more efficient transmission.
