    Hey folks,
I am about to order the parts to replace my rear brakes at 29k miles due to some grooving in the rear rotors (assume I picked up some sand or rocks that got caught between the pads and rotors on the rear).

I used this thread to come up with the part numbers. Thanks for documenting it @Gripster
    https://www.4runners.com/threads/brake-replacement-parts-list-5th-gen.34536/
    Im planning to buy:
    • Rear Rotor: 42431-60311, Qty 2
    • Rear Brake Pads: 04466-60140
    • Rear Disc Brake Pad Shim Kit: 04946-60141
    • Rear Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip Set, Pad Support Plates: 04947-22050
    • Rear Rebuild Kit: 04479-60030 (just in case)

My issue is with the rear brake pad clips. Multiple threads say that this is the right part number
04947-22050. However, the Toyota website (autoparts.toyota.com) list it as for the front.

Can anyone confirm that this is fact the right part for the rear brakes?

For whatever reason, the description is confusing by them using the word Front when that part number is for the anti rattle clips for the rear pads. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I looked at Toyotaparts deal and a couple others.

I believe rotors have enough thickness to be turned (lathed) a couple times before replacement needed.
So you might consider new premium Toyota pads (not the cheapo) and machine re-surfaced rotors. The parking brake components are in the rear rotors making their replacement an expensive time consuming job.
If the grooving is deep I understand your concerns, but if just fine superficial marks -like a old phonograph record- I would start by disassembly of pads and careful inspection. Maybe just clean with brake cleaner and reassembly (with proper hi temp grease in correct locations).

I looked them up on Longo Toyota and they have them listed as Front, Rear. They also list it as fitting 1985-2024. Since they didn't have rear disc in 1985 my guess is the clips fit the fronts of some of those earlier models.

The challenge with having them resurfaced is that if they are too thin, I'll have to buy some potentially inferior rotors from the autoparts store. Maybe I'll just order new rotors and then have the originals resurfaced for the next time I need to change the rear brakes.

Regarding pads, I believe the part number above is the higher quality ones.
