Ram Saw over 10K Orders for Hemi 1500 Trucks in the First 24 Hours. In US, people just don't want these 4-cylinder turbo engines and are lining up for V8s. The new 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty also helps.

I think Toyota is on the wrong side of consumer demand with trucks and SUVs. Toyota hybrids are wonderful, but should have stayed in Prius and the like. People who want such power train are not buying trucks and SUVs.

Oh hell yeah. Toyota had a great 5.7 v8. They should of r & d that instead of the 3.5.

Ram sells something like 300,000-400,000 pickups annually across their lineup, I don’t think that’s a very big number especially if they’re refundable/non-binding orders.

I like modern rams and actually like the inline 6 they offer but yeah nothing beats the V8 sound and it’s less complicated despite having DOD.

My good friend owns one, +30K miles just did his 3rd oil change (10k interval)…interesting thing about some of the tech installed is an oil quality sensor that somehow determines what oil life remains.

He occasionally tows a +7K dual axle with it up in the mountains and can pass cars with not much trouble. As he puts it, the only complaint “is my fuel tank” . He did show me what that truck is capable of (by the way he runs 285/70 R18 Toyo ATIIIs) this past winter which is another reason why I’ll be switching over to those tires.

That truck is definitely something Toyota needs to consider as a role model should they really want to take the Tundra to the next level.

5.7L Crew Cab. Thing rides really sweet on air suspension.

The V6 version is a POS.

While there are lots of people who love their V-8's, there will be a group that will be willing to try the 6th Gen. combo, not necessarily Toyota, but 4cyl./turbos period. The other thing about the Hemi is the new warranty. The Hemi is expensive to produce, and they have had some problems in the past, the powertrain warranty is great, and very appealing to the masses. Hopefully the hemi sticks around, I for 1 would like a Hemi without auto start/stop technology, a Rebel to be exact!

Auto start-stop tech is going away, at least in US. EPA was forced to repeal additional fuel economy credits for having it, so there is no more incentives to force it down everyone's throats.

For the 1500s the 'e-torq' versions have auto start/stop. My friend's 1500 Hemi has a button to disable it.

Too bad about the 10,000 mile oil change interval-it has ruined many fine machines.
I would not trust an electronic gizmo to monitor oil serviciability. Sealed tranny's are bad enough, to also include modern engine oil systems is asking for trouble.
Hopefully vehicle owners can do what suits their preferences.
