Soooooooo, we finally made the move. I purchased a 2019 4Runner Limited with 76K on it this past Saturday for my better half. She put 200K on a 2005 Pathfinder that we bought in 2007. (still outside, need to sell it) She loved the vehicle and wanted a 2012 PF which was the last year of body-on-frame, truck-based SUV. She couldn't find one so here we are. (thankfully) I'm very happy with the vehicle and she is also. I have a question about the factory glass (tint or smoked?) but I'll search the forums.

Fifth generation (2010-2024) Toyota 4Runners have factory-tinted or "privacy glass" on their rear windows, which is often described as "smoked". Depending on what region you are in depends on the dealership and how much they tint the windows, if any.

I believe the only factory tint is on the very back windows in the cargo area. If you live in the SW, then the dealership will tint the back windows light to medium and the front's with a light tint. I put the darkest tint I could find on my 4Runner because it gets very hot and humid in Texas. It's actually illegal tint, but totally worth it. My interior stays cool and gets cool pretty fast. I had a mobile guy do it a few days after I bought it.

It had tint from the dealership on the front/back, and he was able to match his tint so all windows look the same.
