Im running some problems and I had a horrible day today. I ordered all the parts last week and was super excited to put it together today then I realized my Dobinson (C59-302) front springs didn't like compressing them too much. I do not know if I did it wrong or not but I will try to explain this better with pictures.

    0-3.jpg
0-2.jpg what you see here is my Bilstein5100 at the highest groove setting and when I tried to compress it to fit, it is technically impossible because it doesnt compress enough. even if it did, there wouldn't be any room for it to bounce.

1)if I go to the lowest groove setting on Bilstein 5100, would Dobinson spring (C59-302) fit and still give 2.5" lift in the front?
2)or should I go at the highest groove setting (like it is in the picture) on Bilstein 5100 and use the stock springs since it is much shorter than the Dobinsons?
    0-1.jpg
3)or maybe you tell me where did I make the mistake?

I really don't want to send return the parts to them and wait for a refund or change with something else etc. if I absolutely have to. Do you think there are ways I can make this setup work?

    Kindly appreciate your help

Contact @Crikeymike (here on the forum). He's a dobinsons rep. He'll probably know what's going on.

Those are lift coils......as in they are longer than stock and their purpose is to do the lifting of your vehicle. I can't tell exactly, but it looks like they are supposed to provide you with somewhere around 2" - 2.5" of lift.....and that's with the Bilstein spring perch on the lowest setting.

So yes, that spring perch needs to be on the lowest setting.

Use the lowest perch. You're not thinking about it properly. You either preload stock coils or use lifted coils with no preload

According to the horse's mouth, it'll give 2.0" lift in the front: https://dobinsonusa.com/products/do...rings-for-toyota-4x4-trucks-and-suvs-c59-302/

You can try running on the 2nd lowest circlip setting. Driver's side may benefit from being one notch higher because of "taco lean".

What spring compressor are you using? Hope it's beefy or this may be your last day with all ten fingers

Thank you for the reply! I know I still can't believe what I've been through today. Feeling dumb:\

    Do you think
    Bilstein 5100 with Dobinson C59-302(FRONT)
Bilstein 5100 with Dobinson C59-505B(REAR) is overkill for a daily drive(Never offroading)? or is it a durable balanced kit? Do you think my Dob. springs are for heavy load and they will drive too stiff? They are very thick and feels like even at the lowest perch setting, spring will be more compress than the stock.

I've been doing so much research, asking, calling, watching but still failed! I already spent so much money on these and the guy who is suppose to be a certified mechanic bent my springs and dropped my shock on the floor while "trying" to mount them together but now I see an oil leak on the brand new shock. I will re-order stuff now again and I started thinking if Bilstein5100&Dobinson 302&505B set is a good kit to go for durability and 2.5"FRONT,1.5"REAR Lift to fit my 285/70/17's with Mudflap removal and some trimming on the front plastic fascia???:facepalm::facepalm: I need help for sure.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!

I asked "a certified guy" to help me with this today and he really cost me more money and I still drive the car stock. So he used the Spring compressor(7600 Strut Spring Compressor) in the shop I rented.

This is exactly why Im confused, the link you sent me says 2" lift at light load but the website(MUDIFY) told me that this spring(C59-302) will give you 2.5" at stock load! :notsure::notsure:

    My 2 cents:
With 5100’s don’t perch on the highest groove, ever, especially with lift springs (even with factory springs it’s too harsh folks say). I’ve gone down rabbit hole on this. I have old man emu 3” lift springs on 5100’s which I ran on the lowest, 0” groove. My springs settled over time, and this year I had the perch raised to the second groove (I think that’s .85”). After researching, my trusted experienced shop assured me my strut travel will be safe but certainly can’t go no higher, so they made the adjustment for me while installing new UCA’s. My rear lift springs are 2” ICONs.
Install the 2-2.5” Dobby’s, let them settle, and then don’t click the 5100’s up past groove 2.
Personally, I didn’t wanna f*ck with no spring compressor in my garage, I like my fingers.

This is more of a question for @Crikeymike. He'll be able to tell you how those springs ride better than I could.
