Hello from SE Pennsylvania, I recently bought my 2nd 4Runner, ( my first is a ‘24), an 87, just over 200k, mostly stock but for aftermarket front bumper, home made rear bumper and Chevy aftermarket alloy wheels. Minimal rust in the rockers, frame has some surface rust but nothing serious, and although it runs and drives I’m positive it needs a head gasket ( I’ll get to that on a different thread). I’m excited to bring it back to health and enjoy it, I’ve been involved with auto and motorcycle repairs and even worked at a Toyota dealership in the mid seventies, so I’m pretty comfortable diving into it.

Welcome! The 22R series engines are such an easy engine to work on, might want to see if you can find a 22RTE and swap it in for more fun! I have a friend whom bought one new (same color!) at the time I was driving an 87 Pathy, we drove all over the state and beyond. Some 200K miles of exploration, camping…dunes to desert and if it wasn’t for the 3G’s 4-door I’m sure my friend would still be driving that 1G today.

    Enjoy your rig!
