I do generally understand offset, but I am trying to visualize in my mind what I need to get based on stock set up. I have a 5th gen SR5 premium which I believe came with 17 x 7 wheels at +55mm offset? My plan is to purchase 17 x 9’s with some sort of offset. I would prefer the wheels stuck out 1-2 inches past wheel well to give a nice, but no obnoxious wider wheel base look. Given the stock wheel position, would a 17 x 9 wheel with 0mm offset give me that wider look? I figure the 2 inches wider wheel with the 9’s should bring the wheel flush with the wheel well, then the 0 offset adjustment from +55mm would stick them out almost another 2 inches. Does that sound correct?

I believe SR5 stock wheel offset is +15.

I believe @5thToy is correct. At least, I'm pretty sure it's less than 55mm.

You're going to need some negative offset to get the tires out past the fender flares. Offset is measured from the center of the wheel, so wider wheels don't really add poke, unless you use super wide wheels and stretch the tires (which you shouldn't do.

You're going to have to do some trimming with negative offset wheels to mitigate tire rub.

    FWIW, here's a stock size tire on a 17×9 with -6mm offset.

Even 295's don't really poke with 0 offset wheels.

O offset will be flush with the edge of the flares. We have 0 offset 17x9's on ours with Toyo AT3's.

Nice. Thanks so much, all. That makes sense. I wondered if +55mm was too much. Seemed excessive. I must have had a bad source.
