    Hey,

looking to do some performance mods to my 2020 4Runner. Was thinking about a 2.5-3” lift. Never done one before, don’t know much about the process. What all is needing to be done to do something like that? Will i need to purchase anythi g other than the kit itself? And on average what am i looking at for cost of parts and install? I added a pic of where my car is looking right now. Also interested in any suggestions for what can be done. Trying to be very budget friendly if at all possible. Located in Nashville.

    cheers!

welcome. and these other guys will probably be able to chime in, cuz with an ORP you'll need to look at things like adding a differential drop, sway bar relocator i think, and if you got the KDSS there's even more to get.

    Welcome to the forum!

The mods should be determined by your use. Here's a thread on the concept.

I'd focus on tires first. Then IF you still want a lift Tinkerer's Adventure on youtube will set you down the right path. I'd recommend keeping it under 2" just to minimize any impact to your suspension geometry. Bilstein has some great options that will provide some extra travel and adjustability.

i did the eibach stage 1. Love it. I think the kit was $1,000 and the install was $700. But you need to ask yourself, why am i doing this mod? If you do a lift, then you will want bigger tires, bigger tires will run $1,300. My point is, if you are fine leaving it alone - dont change it. I wanted to off road in Moab and Toyota Jamboree. I did it for that. But if you dont plan on doing off roading, leave it alone and save the money. You have a nice 4runner as is.

Why would the ORP be reason for a diff-drop?

Welcome, and nice rig! I think a lift would really set it off as well.

As far as modifying suspension is concerned, I highly suggest that you do some research AND figure out your goals before you start throwing money at your rig.

For example: Why do you want to lift 2.5-3"? Is it for looks, or are you trying to fit a bigger tire for better off-road performance? You also need to keep in mind that lifting above 2.5" starts to put you into a territory where I would recommend aftermarket UCA's, maybe a panhard correction kit, etc. These things will easily balloon your cost to get a good solid lift that still rides like OEM, if not better

Without knowing your budget or goals, I would recommend the Bilstein 5100 kit. Shocks will run you ~$500 and if you pair them with new springs you're probably closer to $800. Install will depend on the shop.

ORPs are 4x4s , my SR5 is not, so can't speak to differentials and CV angles, etc. But there's more involved with all the extra differentials than mine.
