    Hello fellow 4Runner Enthusiasts!

My name is Dustin and several months ago my wife purchased a 2018 TRD SR5 4Runner. When she purchased the vehicle, I promised her that I would fix her headlights as this is something that I always do in every vehicle that I purchase. Prior to her getting the 4Runner, I purchased a Tundra and had upgraded all of the lights to LED's from Headlight Revolution. I had reached out to the company to see what kind of bad ass LED bulbs were out there for the 4Runner and they were nice enough to send me the new Supernova V4 LED bulbs in exchange for an honest review. I received these prior to Thanksgiving but just got around to installing them.

The overall quality of these bulbs are built really well. The heatsink is fairly slim which allows for the whole bulb to sit inside the factory housing and allows for the sealed cover to go on and seal without issues. What comes in the box are the bulbs and the drivers which contain the anti-flicker and CANBUS software. Within the box is also an allen wrench which allows you to adjust the bulb after it is in the projector housing to allow for the best beam cutoff and light output.

I do not have pictures of the actual bulbs prior to installing them into the housing but you can find them at the following location: https://headlightrevolution.com/supernova-v-4-led-headlights-h11-h16-bulbs/

    Features:
    36 Watts Per Bulb.
    3,600 Lumen Per Bulb.
2.50 amps Power Draw at 14VDC Per Bulb.
LED Chips custom designed specifically for this bulb application.
    Input voltage: 8-32V DC.
    Color temperature: 6,000K.
    Aluminum: 6063.
    Waterproof: IP 67.

    Okay so for my review....

These bulbs are pretty damn bright. When I installed them, I was not expecting HID quality light output but these bulbs exceeded my expectations (output shots of before and after are below). The light output is far superior of that of the factory halogen bulbs and the will compete with all high quality HID bulbs. The light cutoff is very crisp and is very noticeable which a lot of other LED bulbs do not have. This is both a cause of the projector used in the factory headlights as well as the dual chip LED which allows for maximum light output. The bulbs light up instantly without a warmup period which gives the driver full instant light output. The lights also go out instantly once they are turned off. After installing them, I turned the headlights on for about ten minutes to see if there were any issues. There was no flickering or dimming of the lights while the vehicle was turned on. Also there were no errors or codes thrown when vehicle was driven.

Installing them was kind of a pain in the ass, as there is limited room under the hood to install the bulbs without taking out completely taking the headlights off the vehicle. Also the room inside the headlight housing is fairly limited in space so that the driver and wires can fit inside housing but I was able to get them in there with a little bit of shifting and maneuvering. Overall install time was about 20 minutes. Which IMHO is better than any of my other vehicles which required complete removal of the headlights from the vehicle.

My suggestion for future versions is to add some sort of gasket on the wires in which the installer can drill a hole on the dust cover of the headlight housing and use the gasket as a weather proof pass through for the wires and driver of the bulb.

So for before and after pictures:

oems1794, thanks for posting this. I purchased these same lights for my 2019 TRD Pro 4runner. I love the output, but how did you fit everything into the housing so as to be able to close back the dust cover? Thanks in advance!

It took some work but I was able to force the relay/ballast and wiring inside the housing and with some pressure and careful placement of the dust cover, it went on without much of an issue.

I wish I would have taken pictures of the install process but it was late at night when it was completed.

    I hope this helps.
