My 2014 four runner old blower motor that was originally installed started fritzing out. I would hammer on the motor and it would work a while for several months until it finally didn't. I ordered a blower motor that matched the part number from carparts (I know now they are not that reputable) and replaced the motor this past Monday. It worked great Monday and Tuesday no issues. I did not drive Wednesday but yesterday when I got in my vehicle it did not come on at all. Everything on the dash lights up as far as the a/c controls. I have checked fuses and none seem burnt out and in working order.

I put a multimeter on the connector that runs to the motor and it is getting the right voltage. Could it be anything else causing the new motor to not work or does it sound like I got a dud? Not sure how I can test the new motor to see if that is the issue but am willing to try if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Stick to OEM when it comes to blower motor.

Voltage does not tell the whole story on electrical connection, you also need Amperage by maximizing surface contact between connectors. Most common problem with the fan connectors are surface oxidation and bent or worn pins that does not allow maximum electrons to flow through. Thin and thick wires both measure the same voltage but thicker wires is what gives the motor the umph to turn. If necessary, disassemble the blower connector and solder the wires together. Using dielectric grease will also enhance the connection and prevent arching between contacts and drastically slow down oxidation. Lightly coat or use silicone spray, thick coats will actually be adverse and form insulating barrier.

But I agree with Lc200, stick to OEM.

different vehicle but i got a blower motor for my 2011 honda pilot and had the same issue. It worked for 2-3 days and stopped. It was the blower motor from Auto Zone - when i took it back and replaced it, then it worked and lasted until i sold the vehicle

I hooked the new blower motor up to my lawnmower battery with clips and it ran fine. Could the issue be the blower motor resistor in my vehicle? The motor does not blow at any speed but I do not know if a bad resistor would cause it to only function on certain speeds or not at all.
