It has been a little bit since I made a post here, and wanted to update what models we currently have available for the 4 Runner family.

For the 5th Generation 2010-2024 4 Runner we have a full skid plate package that includes the following skid plates.
    • Front/Engine skid plate - KDSS and NON KDSS Versions
    • Transmission skid(also protects the catalytic converters.)
    • Transfer Case Skid plate.

Standard version above, KDSS version shown below.

We are currently test fitting a fuel tank skid, and will be offering that soon. We are also working on A arm skid plates as well.

For the 2003-2009 4th Generation four runner we only have the transmission skid plate at this time. Are you in Houston? Looking for skid plates, message us as we want to offer a set for these. We have a transmission skid plate for both the v8 and v6 4Runners.

We also released a skid plate package for the 3rd generation 4 Runner earlier this year. This is a full Engine transmission and transfer case skid plate.

While it may not be apparent at face level, there are little detail that make our plates a bit better. Here are a few of them
    • Engine plate uses a bracket at the front that greatly increases strength over other mounting options. This is through adding supporting flanges and increasing material thickness
    • Transmission skid plate has an option for reinforcing ribs. The reinforcing ribs are spars welded down the length of the transmission skid plate the dramatically increase the strength over standard transmission skid plate.
Transfer Case: We maximized the size and thickness of the vertical flanges on the bolt in cross-member. The taller the vertical flange, the more of a load it can handle. This is like comparing the strength of a 2x4 to a 2x6.

All of our skid plates are offered in 3/16 steel and 5052 aluminum. The aluminum transfer case plate retains a steel cross member for strength.

Don't forget, our cyber Monday sale is also going on! Don't miss out on good savings.

    What are your questions?

Do you have a 4th gen 4 Runner in the Houston area? If you are looking for skid plates we would love to have you come by and test fit our 4 Runner plates.

Whereabouts are you in the Houston area? I have a 5th gen but have a neighbor with a 4th gen that might be interested.

We are actually in Somerville now! Just off the lake.

I still have a small shop in the Cypress area we could potentially meet at though. Likely would just 3d scan the 4 runner and see if the skids fit. If they don't we would just have to adjust.

We just got our new shop up in running so it might be a bit of time before we can meet.

Thanks. I'll walk over there and talk to them. Need to take home some of my old 4th gen keyfobs anyway. Will let you know once I talk to him.

    On your GX460 engine skid

    https://talonsgarage.com/products/l...e-skid-plate-2010-2023?variant=48158693523764

    Two questions -

    1) is the engine skid actually two pieces extending back over the oil pan or is it just the front single piece? EDIT looks like it's two piece plus a center bracket as per your online instructions.

    2) can you remove the oil filter with the skid in place? Some vendors are basically selling a 4R skid as a GX skid but the filter is different between the two so the filter door isn't aligned right - so in the fine print they warn you "skid plate must be dropped for filter change". Is yours actually GX filter compatible?

    Thanks

The engine skid is two pieces extending back over the oil pan. With our new nut plate it is very easy to drop the front half, or the back half.

The oil door on the 460/470 is positioned where it needs to be to actually get to the oil filter. It is a small hole so I don't want to act like you have all the room in the world, but we have not had any complaints yet. They mostly have come from the Tundra side of things as far as filter door size, and that was only one gentleman....

Also, the 460 skid is not the same as the 470... Most 470's do not have KDSS so we designed a skid to fit specifically to it.

I spent all the time to open the file and get this screen capture just to see my wife has a nice picture of the oil door on the webpage.
