    Hey all,

I am sure this is a bit of a redundant question ya'll get often...but I need some advise...pretty please.
Looking to get a lift on my truck (ORP w/ KDSS) soon...need some advise to which brand/set up to go with based on what I plan to do with my rig.

First off...let's set the stage....If measuring off road difficulties, level (1) being green/easy and (5) being double black diamond/difficult.

I'm looking to go off roading from time to time (once every month or so)...off roading levels ranging from levels 2-3 most of the time....but I would like to tackle a level 4 once every so often. Not interested in level 5.

This rig will serve as a weekend play vehicle - Off roading, taking it Skiing, Camping, and possibly multi-day overlanding trips, etc...

I'm NOT looking to break the bank...but I understand the saying "buy once, cry once" if its reasonable.

With this...what would you all recommend?

Thanks in advance for all your wisdom!!

Do yourself a favor and browse through this forum:

    https://www.4runners.com/forums/suspension.19/

You're correct in saying this is a bit redundant, and you'll find a lot of information in there.

Basically what I'm saying is it is one thing to come here with a list of 4-5 systems you've explored that you think will work for your purposes and asking for feedback on those and another thing to come asking for recommendations without having done any groundwork beforehand...

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Here's a great buy once, cry once option: Portal's with 35's. Go big or Go home.

    Thanks
I've looked at Blisten 6112/5100, Dobinsons, Kings, Eibach, Flacon & Icon. There are many...but I'm new to this world, and thus looking for some direction...so was hoping to get a first take from some folks that have experience.
Also, I have done some digging on this site... and your link does show many options...but I don't see much on WHAT they intend to use their rig for. That is the main question I need answered.
Are they tackling level 5's on Blisten 6112/5100, Fox shocks?

Not trying to rag on you. The information you just gave is a good starting point. I'll let those who have experience with the type of off roading you describe chime in.

I have eibach and couldn’t be happier. They have been to Moab, Toyota Jamboree, AZ and Colorado off roading. They performed beyond my expectations. If you call them directly and ask for a discount they will take 10% off. I went with these because they don’t have to be rebuilt every 30k miles like king and icon. Bilstein is good as well. The only reason I chose eibach after tons of research is because they gave me 10% off.

    From what I have read:

Lots of people like the Eibach kit - which seems to only lift the front.
Dobinsons also good. With a dedicated rep on this website
Bilsteins also good but not for heavy off roading as they are too rough
Old man emus - haven't heard too much about them

Anything beyond that and you're looking at above 5k (even the dobinsons honestly fleshes out to about 4k if you go over 2" with all the necessary components to bring it back to balance)

KYB JAOS - try the new thing, made by a Japanese company. Personally I think you should give it a go un lifted, you might be surprised at what she will do. Save your fuel economy and ride and wear on your front axles. These are known to trash the front diff needle bearing when lifted.

Just get some good tires and sliders, have at it

Overland Outfitters did an awesome video comparing different shocks in different price ranges.

Based on what they tested, I think Bilstein is the best budget option
