Does this count as a wheel and tire setup?

Walked out of work this morning to see this. I’m pretty sure that’s a scissor blade sticking out of it. Thankfully 4runners have a true spare so I could just swap the tire off of the spare and buy a shitty used tire.

This almost made me pull the trigger for better tires, but my frugal conscience talked me out of it for now.

I just had them swap the spare onto the TRD rim and bought a cheap used tire for the spare. $80 out the door. Ended up being a scissor blade.

I lived with my "Duelers" for the first 35,000 miles. They were ok on the highway, commuting, and such, but for the 300 or 400 off road miles that I put on during this time period I never felt very confident. Looking forward to hitting the trail in a couple weeks with a brand new set of 285/70/17 BFG K02s ! (Not to mention a 3/2 lift).

Just went through the same thing two weeks ago with my daily commuter. PITA thing was it took the tire shop two attempts at fixing it they kept telling me it was the bead losing air and I said totally flat in half an hour??? Well long story short they were wrong there was a hole.

Sorry for the late reply... the pointy end was sticky outwards, so I highly doubt someone actually did it. Must have hit it just right

Most manufacturers throw cheap tires on their vehicles from the factory. When I had my Subaru STI the tires lasted 10k new. My father in laws new Silverado only got 7k out of the new tires on it.

At $40,000 for the rig (sticker) I'm not tossing (or going through the hassle of trying to sell) my new tires. Much better things to throw money at right now than swapping out already new tires. Besides the most off roading mine will ever see is a dirt road.
