DRLs not working

My DRLs stopped working and there is no voltage present on the fuse for the DRLs when they are switched and the fuse is intact. Tested with the fuse OUT and also no voltage on either side.

Any other places to check? I tried by replacing each DRL bulb one at a time.

 

The DRLs can be turned off via the infotainment screen. Menu>Setup>Vehicle I think. This setting overrides the switch on the stalk. You might check that setting.

 

Yes, good thought. I did that and it shows them ON. I even toggled it. I also checked it is ON with Carista.

If the parking brake is on, they won’t come on. I don’t know if it kills the voltage at the fuse.

 

Yeah my stock runner, I turned off my DRL in the settings, I like just the amber running lights only option better for dawn and dusk

 

Saker I just tested this. The DRLs on my 22 ORP come on regardless of the parking brake pedal being depressed or not. Maybe it’s different for various years/trims?

 

Aren’t the DRLs in series?
So if (one or both) is burnt out neither one will light. Check with two known good bulbs.

 

You identified the problem, and it is weird. 2024 ORP.

If the car is in park with E-brake engaged and you turn on the engine (with stalk in DRL position) the DRLs will not illuminate. If you release the E-brake with the engine still on, the DRLs come on. If you then re-engage the brake the DRLs will stay on.

So, it seems the only case (and this is when I noticed DRLs not working) when they will NOT work is if you start the car with the E-brake on.

I can think of no logical reason to design them like this.

And yes, in the case of the DRLs not illuminating, there is no voltage on the fuse. The correct fuse is the one circled blue in my original post. 10A Red.

I tested this on my “22 ORP. It is as described. Odd.
