Hi everyone, I've had a shop install half inch spacers with bilstein 6112s set at 1.9" of lift along with SPC UCAs. I got the idea from the Tinkerer's Adventures's youtube channel as a great way to get as much lift and down travel as possible, but I missed the fact that he only recommends using spacers on stock or standard travel suspension. Now I'm concerned that I'm at risk to bend the shocks or stress the ball joints and CV axles. Has anyone ran or encountered a similar setup, any issues or advice?

Definitely don’t mix lifts but at least you didn’t add the spacer to a max lifted coilover. So you’re basically at a 2.5 inch lift. Spacer lifts can cause the coilover to bottom out internally before you hit the bump stop and also you are eating up downtravel anytime you lift a double wishbone suspension.

Spacers with the Bilsteins could also and most likely does void the Bilstein warranty.

The shop has agreed to remove the spacer and adjust the coilovers to a 2.5" lift. My initial plan was to only lift 1.9" to preserve down travel and lift the rear 1" but the rear's been lifted 2" and I really like the new stance. Plus they're not charging me to adjust the lift, doesn't feel right to ask them to change the rear springs too.

I've always used .25" or .5" top hat spacers.

Space your bump stops accordingly. You'll gain uptravel since the 4runner has more travel above factory bump stops.

Ifs only has so much down and up travel.

With coilovers too? Any issues, are you running extended bump stops?

No I'm not running coilovers but 6112 aren't really coil overs. I'm running them right now with trd pro shocks and eibach springs. I'm using wheeler bumpstops with a 1/8" bump stop spacer. Before I put my springs on I cycled the trd fox shocks(without spring) and they would hit the bumpstop .5"-.75" before the shock would bottom out. So I'm using .25" top hat spacers.

You wouldn't have an issue with a small spacer

    This is great info, thanks!
Just for clarification, is the .5"-.75" before the shock bottomed out with the .25" top hat spacer and bump stop spacer in place? If so, seems like I'll be good to with a .5" longer bump stop.

With no top hat spacers or springs and factory bump stops. The shock hit the bump stop. with more up travel(by 1 inch maybe more). This is with trd pro fox shocks. Which is a good thing because you don't want your shocks to bottom out.

A .25" or .5" spacer will only help gain up travel. But you do not want a 1" or larger top hat spacers without extending the bump stops.

It's also beneficial is you add "compression" bump stops like wheelers. Also adding aftermarket uca(I have jbas)

In your position I'd keep the springs at 2" and add a top hat spacers to adjust ride height and travel.
