What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

dropped it off at my mechanic for 5k oil change and inspection while im out of town for work.

 

Drove it to watch my 2nd daughter graduate. Then used it to quickly leave the school afterwards before the stampede happened.

 

created grill lightbar brackets.
before, the bar was straight up ghetto tie strapped to the grill.

 

The older I get, the more I appreciate and understand what my dad was doing to "beat the rush". Even though it drove me crazy when we left halfway through the 4th quarter of a Broncos game...

 

Being at the public events wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for all the public there.

 

I’ve thought about this also. I figured one in the tailgate…if they steal the tailgate, you can find it and well…if they steal the truck the tailgate is still on it for a bit usually.

 

Had the RotopaX locking mount with the FuelpaX gas tank on my Gobi ladder for YEARS. The mount started getting too rusty, and spreading on my Gobi ladder.

Today consisted of taking the mount off, and spraying Rust-Oleum on the ladder.

 

Oil change, filters, greased drivetrain, and tire rotation.

 

On gravel no less .

 

Balance and rotation at Discount Tire this morning. Went about 15K from the last one. Got on the freeway right away and checked all the speeds and no shake. Guy did a great job.

 

I received and fitted a small plastic drawer to fit into the silly cubby in front of shift lever. Several sources are on Etsy. I chose flat front with small flush cutout for pulling drawer out.
Fit is perfect, no wiggle. I did sand/file the very sharp bottom and side edges. I just got the lower big drawer as they make both sizes.
I intend to mount my mobile radio control panel to it, and radio body mounts under passenger seat.

 

Drove the 2011 to pick up the Grandkids at school. They had an early release and both parents were working.

 

After seeing several 4Runners with matching tint all the way around, I had 20% put on my front doors today. Looks vastly better and isn't too dark which was a concern.


EDIT to add: This is 20% on the front, 70% tint on the factory dyed glass.

 

Gave the ol girl a much needed wash. Needs clay and wax but that will have to wait till I have more time

took the 4r out from hibernation in garage to rip out to Steveston Marine & Hardware straight after work, before they closed. Dude I should have made the trip here for my automotive electrical, Blue Sea Systems gear, and all my assorted stainless…amazing store for tinkerers and engineers.

I got out step closer to locating single mounting point d-ring anchors to replace the cargo area ceiling hooks - got the associate to go through his vendor catalog wit me and ordered some test mounts. If I’m not happy with them, I will eBay the FJ ceiling d-ring anchors. Stay tuned!

 

And my daughter doesn’t understand why I won’t let her Husky ride in my 4R.

 

My lab is shedding horribly right now. Got a trip to AR this weekend and it starts all over again. 3 lint rollers in the 4Runner.

 

I feel your pain.I have two crazy GSD's that demand the windows and sunroof stay open, furrnado is the only way to describe the result during shedding season.

 

Drove the 4R to the liquor store and haven't recovered yet.

 

It doesn't get any easier. I don't get hangovers anymore, but I'm sore every morning somewhere. In my mind I can still do everything I could when I was 20, but my 60 year old body tells me otherwise. I'm sore after Rotating the tires.

i wished i did that on my 21 4R.. i did 30% fronts and 20% on the rear doors .. would like to re-do the fronts..

 

This is immediately after it was done yesterday in direct sunlight, today it pretty much is a perfect match. Much, much better look than the 40% that was on there previously. Its all Xpel XR Plus, just fyi.

put 1500kms (932 miles) of travels on the runner’s new SPC UCA’s[promo: shop cost on parts, free labor].
booked truck in for the suspension assessment as per my agreement w/ Dale’s, up on the lift 12pm Saturday.
*there was two or three 4r’s selected for the SPC promo. the 4th gen dude already returned after 1000kms, and the SPC balljoints and axis bushings had no play

 

Did mine 15% fronts 50% back on top of factory privacy glass none windshield.

 

Since those are the newer Pro wheels I am still wondering if they fit the regular Pro wheels. Does anyone have the black lug nuts on the other Pro wheels?
