    2025 Ice Cap TRD ORP
Hi, a week ago I picked up an Ice Cap TRD ORP here in Massachusetts. My first ever 4Runner. I've always wanted one but usually life got in the way somehow. I was driving a 23 Honda Ridgeline for the past year but 3 weeks ago an 81 year old lady decided to blow through a stop sign and totaled my truck (no one hurt thankfully). I looked at the new 26 Passport and while I liked the interior for the most part, I found the exterior to be pretty boring. And boring is the word I would also use for my Ridgeline. So started looking for a white TRD OR but found the supply was nearly non existent here in the New England. So I opened my search and wallet for the ORP and found one due at a dealer in 3 weeks that hadnt been sold. In the end I'm glad I got the ORP because I really prefer the seat color to the two tone black and gray of the OR.

So far, with 500 miles under my belt, I'm really loving this truck. I think the 4cyl turbo is more than adequate for my needs. Only mod so far is the black overlay on the Toyota grill symbol.

As a bit of background info, I'm 65 and retired. I'm really looking forward to putting my 1-UP rack on the back and heading off to do some mountain biking or cyclocross racing.

    Welcome.

I don't think people complain about the power of the 4cyl. 278 hp & 317 lb/ft with 4cyl Turbo and whopping 326 hp & 465 lb/ft with 4cyl Turbo Hybrid compared to 270 hp & 278 lb/ft with 4.0 V6 on 5th Gen, Its definitely an upgrade. People are concerned about the reliability of a 4cyl turbo engine and the 8spd automatic that was retuned from a highlander.

Hope it will serve you well with correct maintenance. Take a look at the maintenance manual if you haven't. Atleast in 5th gen it help me in maintenance as it have different intervals with different use. Unlike Honda it doesn't really tell about oil health level.

Also take a look at the owners manual for some precautions to keep that powertrain healthy. Simple points like letting the turbo cool down before you shutdown the engine.

Since you are in Massachusetts (not in island regions) you don't have to worry about adding EFI cleaning additive but it's a hint to pay extra attention to use clean gas in 6Gen.

Thanks. Yes I understand the reliability concerns with a 4 banger and the transmission compared to the tried and true 4.0 V6. I'm planning on changing the oil every 5K miles vice Toyota's recommended 10K interval. Regarding cool down, the manual states that a 1 min cool down is recommended after steep hill driving or continuous high speed driving. Not sure they define continuous though.

I only use Tier 1 fuels like Mobil.

    Welcome from Las Vegas!
I also had a 2023 RTL-E that i traded in for a '22 SR5 base model. I miss the walk away auto lock, but annoyed with the auto start stop ;)
