Looking to upgrade to 33” tires. Currently have 3.5” Dobinsons IMS lift with OME UCA. I do some easy trail riding, but nothing crazy. Will I need a BMC for them to fit?

Nah I had 285/70/17 on those TRD wheels and did not need a BMC. Should be good to go

Are you looking to keep the narrow TRD SEMA wheels? If so, the only 33" size you'll be able to run is 255/80-17. You may rub the cab mount at full tuck, but if you are actually lifted 3.5", the suspension will be very rarely at full tuck.

If the day comes when you are rubbing on the body mount and you desire to chop it, just get an angle grinder from Harbor Freight and chop it yourself. This is what I did to my FJ Cruiser. Chop, paint, and be happy.
My 4Runner is rubbing at full tilt so I may chop it as well.

Only way to truly know is to go out there and “wheel” it as you typically would and go from there. So many variables in trucks, wheels, tires, alignments and the extent of off roading you do. I was resistant to getting a BMC and researched the heck out of whether I needed one. A trip came up and with new wheels and tires I decided not to risk any chance of rubbing so I sought the best fabricator in the area familiar w/ chops and got one anyway. Totally satisfied with the quality of the work. Coated it with “steel-it” and went on the trip worry free with lots of clearance. I will say, if it turns out you do need one pay for the best to do it. Nothing sadder than butchered mounts to save $$$.

Just went with 285/70/17s couple days ago. Stock Pro, no added weight/suspension mods, bone stock other than factory 1" lift. Only thing I did was remove front mud flaps (3 bolts either side). I went with the MT LT Baja Boss ATs (true 33s according to MT), zero rub on pavement, speed bumps, driveways, etc. Haven't gone to the trail yet, but I currently have a finger and half width front and back on full and 90% turning lock.

Honestly, I wouldn't run 285s on those wheels. They can pop off if you have to air down. I say cut that sob anyways :laser:

This too. Most 285's are not approved to be on a wheel less than 7.5" wide.

Pop off when you air down?

 My lord. There are thousands of rigs using that wheel with 285/70/17 tires. I haven't seen a single one "pop off" after airing down because the wheel is .5" too narrow.
In fact many people will specifically run skinnier wheels with wide tires to lower the chances of debeading a tire when aired down.
I ran that combination for a few years all the way down to 12 psi and never had an issue.

Just my two cents I guess.

I see snow in the first picture. If you have to air down below 10 psi in snow/sand thats not recommend on those at all. Id get 255s instead & go for pizza cutters

I myself do not see it being an issue in most instances, but I am merely pointed out a fact, that is literally inscribed on my sidewall.

    I have small 33's. KO2's.

I don't know how anyone here says you don't need to cut anything. Maybe not if you just drive in a straight line?

OP be ready to cut. It will be fine. But be ready

I bought a 2024 Trd Pro Nightmare. I just removed 33 X 12 Rims and tires. Bought car in Ohio in February can’t get it to pass Pennsylvania inspection. 1st tires were protruding automatic failure, got set of 18” Fuel wheels, w Micky Thompson 285/75. Went back and windshield washer pump not working, not under warranty because oversized tires rubbed several holes in tank, saying that caused the pump to run dry(tank was patched with duck tape & painted black), got that repaired now 3rd time and it failed because of the body mount chop. It is considered an unsafe frame modification in Pennsylvania.

    8. Sections 175.78(h) and 175.108(l) (relating to chassis), are proposed to be amended to provide that body mounts are not allowed to be broken, cracked, deteriorated or missing. Body mounts are designed to attach the chassis to the body of a vehicle. Substandard body mounts could result in the separation of the body from the chassis in an accident, possibly causing further injury and damage. Omission of this requirement was an oversight by the Department and the importance of inspecting this part of vehicle equipment was brought to our attention by inspection station mechanics and the State Police. Further, §§ 175.80(d)(5) and 175.110(d)(8) (relating to inspection procedure) are proposed to be amended so that a vehicle will be rejected if body mounts do not hold as required, or are broken, cracked, deteriorated or missing.

Set of 4 KMC 20” rims, wheel spacers, with Mickey Thompson 33’s.
and probably a 2024 Trd Pro for sale.
I do not recommend a BMC in Pa

Post a pic of the BMC. Reading what is written sounds like maybe the previous owner chopped and didn’t weld anything back or did a very poor job

I’d be interested in seeing that BMC too. That’s a modification one should not cheap out on if doing at all. Ask for references and see previous work for sure. Thinking this is more a case of maxing out on wheel and tire size though? Triple check all those clearances. Shame, that 2024 GRFE has hundreds of thousands of miles to give.
