I bought my 2000 4Runner Limited in January and it has been running perfectly fine besides having to replace spark plugs and wires. Recently my starter broke down and I replaced it. After getting my starter replaced the car starts up great! Only problem is that after driving for about 30-60 minutes and turning off the car, it wont start again unless I wait a few hours. I have been trying to find something online that might be the solution to my problem but I cant find anything that applies. I am just looking or a sense of direction for the problem just so I can get it figured out. It doesnt crank, battery is good, no codes/no check engine light, throttle body is good, fuel pump turns on. Any advice will be appreciated, Thank you!

Could you possibly have a bad starter relay that loses connection as it gets hot? Heats up, connections expand. Once it cools, the connections may retract back into place and allow it to start again... Might be an easy thing to at least rule out.

I would check your battery cables for internal corrosion or a weakened\split battery terminal. The system is a simple one so yeah, battery, cables, relay, starter and grounds. One of those is not working.

I would check the relay like was mentioned and then grounds and cables.

Sounds like the starter "should" be good since it is new. But if you didn't get a Denso\TOYOTA starter, it could be suspect if it's getting heat soaked. Aftermarket rebuilds really are hit and miss anymore these days. There is no quality control.

I agree with the previous statement. My other thought was the exact same on the power/grounds, as well as something getting heat soaked. The starter could definitely be a suspect as well. Great advice.
