Dobinsons 5th Gen 4Runner Suspension options

Hey mike, had a quick question on rear spring recommendations. wondering what your thoughts are between these 3 options (or a different brand/model like the Icon Overland or OME 889) for my setup

• C59-327 - 200-400LB heavy rear load weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 18mm wire, 271LB
• C59-675V - Variable rate comfort option, stock rear weight, 2.5" lift. 470/470mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable
• C59-677V - Variable rate comfort option, 200-400+LB heavy rear load weight, 2.5-3" lift. 500/500mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable

2020 Trd Pro with Elka 2.5 DSC mid travel front and rear.
Dr KDSS panhard correction
Durobump bumpstops
Dobinson Rear Coil Poly spacer on driver side
Air Lift 1000 Air Bags

Currently running Toytec Superflex HD 2" rear springs (150-200lbs added weight)


I have about 150lbs constant weight in the back of the truck between the fridge, drawers, and gear. however, I have a rig'd ultra swing I take on and off that adds an additional 200lbs or so which is why im leaning toward a variable rate. Are the Dob 6xx series strictly meant for long travel shocks and would the 677V be too harsh without UltraSwing on the vehicle? id like to not be under 2" when fully loaded (350-400lbs) but under 3" when unloaded (150lbs)

From what I've seen, the Toytec coils you have now are very similar to the 677V's, just not as tall. So if you purely want more lift height, use the 677V's. The 675V's will be softer and probably won't support it very well with the fully loaded weight. The 327's would be ideal as far as spring rate and the load you'll have, as long as you want 2" of lift.

No, LT coils don't require LT shocks, but to run LT shocks, you must run LT coils and all the other parts necessary for the LT shocks.

So the short answer is use C59-327 for 2" of lift, C59-677V for 3" of lift. 677V's will sit taller without the 200-400lbs of load on them that is listed. Any coil will do that, if you don't add the weight that's listed with it, it won't sit at that height.

Anybody here have before and after pictures on the C59-327 Coil Springs? These are the 2" - 200-400LB heavy rear load weight. I'm coming off a 2" Icon and wanting to see how the back looks. Thank you!

There's shipping protection (insurance) when you go to check out. You don't have to accept it.

Just ordered! I didn't find this thread until after but am excited for it after reading through this. I was a little torn on weight... but I think this is the right call for now. I am just going for a 2" lift. Constant weight wise I am only planning on a sherpa crestone and my tools so I suspect I'll be in the 120 ib range on a normal day. I am kicking around the idea of an ultraswing but I likely don't have the budget for that right now. How much weight do you think I can get away with (both constant and payload) with what I ordered?

Shipping insurance is Optional. It is selected by default because most people don't want to deal with lost, stolen or damaged products, especially auto parts. Those are standard rate rear coils, not constant load. So it will be similar to how the stock coils handle weight, but about 10% stronger

 

ok thanks. Which springs are the next step up in weight bearing for a 2” lift? I’ll snag a set if I’m not happy with how it’s sitting with my typical load or loaded for a trip.

 

Going back to the first post in this thread, here are the rear spring options.

C59-327 are the 200-400lb heavier load 2" lift option, the first option that's a higher spring rate than the standard 220LB rate.

Rear Coil Options, even left to right height **for KDSS vehicles, use a 15mm (PS59-4025) rear spacer on the passenger side to correct the lean on lift heights of 1.5" or more
C59-323 - Stock height rear coils, same specs as rear TRD Pro OE coils, 375/375mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-599 - Stock rear end, 1.25-1.5" lift (keeps rear end low, allowing to help level the vehicle rake with 2" front lift). 390/390mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-505 - Stock rear end load, 1.75-2.0" lift. 405/405mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-325 - Stock rear end load, 2.25-2.5" lift. 420/420mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-327 - 200-400LB heavy rear load weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 18mm wire, 271LB
C59-329 - 600-800LB super ridiculous heavy rear load weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 18mm wire, 286LB
C59-331 - 800LB+ insanely heavy rear end weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 19mm wire, 349LB (teal)
C59-675V - Variable rate comfort option, stock rear weight, 3" lift. 470/470mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable
C59-677V - Variable rate, 200-400LB constant rear load weight, 3" lift, long travel. 500/500mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable
C59-701V - Variable rate, 500-600 LB heavy rear load weight, 3" lift, long travel. 500/500mm, 17mm wire, 210-245LB variable. Designed for those with heavy full rear bumper, tire carrier, roof rack, RTT, drawers, and fridge. Rides very well with all that weight, as well as when loaded even further.
C59-749V - Variable Rate, 800-1000 LB super heavy constant rear load, 3" lift, long travel. 520/520mm free height, 18mm wire, 198-300LB variable rate, usually around 270LB at loaded height

 

C59-327 springs with roughly 500 lbs permanent add-on weight (127 lbs front, 157 lbs mid, 200 lbs rear)


When I'm outfitted for trips Photon will be carrying an additional 200-300 lbs of gear so I'm anticipating the rear to drop down to a more level height.

Hey Mike I'm interested in trd pro front lift springs. Mine are the 2019/2020 style(flat)

They say out of stock and have for a while now. Do you have ant updates?

 

Yes, these are the replacements for them, however they're only in the USA in teal as of yet. Some red ones have been ordered from Australia, but they're taking forever.
