Greetings all, today I start my adventure into the world of the 4th Gen 4 Runner. I am no stranger to Toyotas, as I have owned a Tacoma, Corolla, and a Tundra. As you imagine I have been on those forums as well. However, this will be the first time that I do a build thread and actively document my progress. I purchased the vehicle yesterday and have not changed anything on it as of yet.

Vehicle sits at 209k as of today.

Progress update #2 Pulled the battery from 2018 that was on the vehicle when I purchased it and replaced it with the Optima Redtop out of my Tunda since it is up for sale.
While I was there I soaked the terminals in some bakingsoda hot water mix to eat the corrosion off of the cable and sanded/primered underneath the battery tray due to surface rust.
The battery tie down was rust through so I ordered an aluminum tie down from Amazon.

I then decided to pull the rock panel covers due to a massive build up of leaves and debris. I do not think it has ever been cleaned.

Then started the process of replacing the power steering fluid with new ATF

It has been a while since an update. Here is #6
Since I purchased the 4Runner, the fender liner has been absent, so it was time to install it and relocate the windshield washer reservoir.

The Headlights also needed to be changed, so I bought a cheap set on Amazon for the time being.

Here is a picture of how I cut and shaped the fender liner to fit the steel bumper. I plan on returning with a heat gun to help remedy some of the crumpling in the picture.

Alas, to end this post, here is the relocation reservoir that I purchased from Silver Rhino Media.

*Also repainted the surface of the rusted area underneath the battery.

Update #7 It has been a busy few weeks. Here are the updates as of late.

The next set is of my JBL Sub-box Retro fit. I obtained a JBL sub-box and panel from a wrecked 07 4 runner and I have retrofitted it with a Pioneer Riot 200w mini amp and a Scar 8 in shallow mount sub. However, the Scar Sub was a bit big for the box so some trimming was needed on the plastic grid located inside of the box. My truck is an SR5 so it did not come with the JBL package, however this will be wired directly to the aftermarket Pioneer deck that was already inside of the vehicle. Depending on the wiring job by the P/O will dictate if rewiring/new radio is needed. Before and After Pictures.
