IMG_7286.jpg So, finally switched teams back to Toyota picked up a 2016 Runner. The only exterior aspects that I didn’t like about. It was the fact to add one of those black bug deflector screens. I thought they were bolted on from below and it would’ve been an easy removal, but it looks like it’s pretty well stuck on there.

How would I go about Removal of this so I don’t damage any paint? Would heat gun as a first step and hit it with maybe a bit of glue gone afterwards work?

I really can’t tell how long this thing has been on so I’m worried what I might find underneath. Do these things have a reputation for destroying paint when they are removed?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Step 1: Get out a heat gun and warm it up.
Step 2: Gently pull back and remove the bug shield.
Step 3: Wipe down the excess adhesive with Goo-Gone. Use a rubber razor blade to scrape off the excess.
Step 4: Wipe off the Goo-Gone and spray glass cleaner on the area so you don't leave traces of Goo-Gone on the paint.

I used WD-40 on my pickup to remove the sticky stuff. And I never used another stick on bug shield.
