What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Any front suspension droop after installation ?

 

Replaced the navigation SD card in the 2018 4Runner. Thought it would show the new place we live, but the SD card is Aug. 2023 and our house was built in 2023
The new house is not on the map,but it's newer than the 2018 map. At least I know where I live.

 

The Map has upgrades to one year before. So if you get a new 2025 map, it would be updated to around summer 2024.

 

Didn't do it but Dealer ship just sent a reminder for 18mos scheduled Mx. Just under 8k on the vehicle.

 

after kids went to bed last night, was able to test the light output of two new ditch pods.

Took it to the dealership for an oil change. Noticed this when I got home. Debating now if the free oil changes are worth it. Also changed the engine air filter and greased the propeller shafts when I got home which is how I noticed the issue.

 

They have just put it upside down. No biggie. Honest mistake I am sure.

honest mistake? Pure laziness. The stuck the bolt in from the backside and said F it. I bet its stripped and the reason why it looks like that.

 

Time for the annual touch up while Ruby is at the body shop. Got the primer on, later this week will be the bed liner.

 

I recently put a new radio, rear column lights, rear bright tow hitch lights and the black lil thing on the bottom of the fog lights to give it a cool look as well. Oh yeah some new seat covers too. I gotta get new tires but don’t know if I should go 285/75 or stay with the 285/70s.

I hear ya, in certain regions it’s amazing how fast even powder coated steel needs a little touch up

That's why I didn't powder coat. Lots of rocks and rocky roads, so figured I would need to be touching them out once a year or so.

 

I've been thinking about doing this while my 4Runner goes into the shop next week. How easy was it to remove them?

 

Fair point, I opted for powder coat instead of raw, then a Raptor Liner redo down the road

Pretty easy. The couple of top bolts are at a weird angle but not hard. I out Jack stands at the front and the back, and a floor jack in the middle so I didn't have to worry about them taking my head out.

The service advisor sent me a text this afternoon thanking me for coming in and wanted me to leave a review on Google mentioning his name. I sent him that picture and told him I understand it’s not his fault directly but it does make me second guess the work that was performed. He apologized and said that a manager would call me on Monday. This is the same dealership that thought my fluid film was an oil leak - and spent 3 hours trying to “diagnose” the leak…if anyone has a good recommendation for service in the Denver area let me know haha

Once you've spent more time on this forum, you'll realize there are quite a few members who wouldn't darken the doorway of ANY dealership for routine service after discovering similar (or worse) screw ups during previous visits. There's some on here that have a dealership they trust, but they're few and far between.

Stripped, broken, or missing skid plate bolts, over torqued filter housing and/or oil pan drain bolts, etc. I once got a Tacoma back from a service visit minus the engine skid...

I've read more than once that the oil pan access cover, you show hanging by one bolt, was nowhere in sight upon later inspection.
