Okay, I'm new here. I made a deal and a deposit on a 2025 TRD Sport Premium on March 11, 2025. I have seen many things on other sites about deliveries. Some are saying up to 2 years! My dealer made no mention of the possiblity of a very long wait. I would love to know the truth about this. Your factual comments please. Thanks.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
2yrs to be delivered? I hadn't heard anything like that. If it was true, I would move on and buy something else.

I did a quick search on AutoTrader and found 187 available within 50 miles of me. They're all 2025 and various models. The only thing I would worry about with an incoming vehicle: The tariff that will be slapped onto it, and passed along to you.

    Welcome to the forum.

2 years would definitely be a deal breaker. No way I would wait that long to get a Toyota.

Waited 15 mos. for the wife's BMW but that was 2022 into 2023 because of chip shortage & changing the model from the 22 to the 23 model.

When I check with the dealership they tell me that every 2 weeks they are notified if Toyota "accepted" the pre-order. Once the pre-order is accepted, they tell you what your build date is. That is the sum total of what I know.

That’s sounds like the truth, when I requested my last couple yotas, I was told something similar.

basicly, what that means, is once Toyota builds something like what you want (they do NOT do special orders), and your dealership is due for an allocation, they might be able to secure what you are looking for.

I did use multiple dealerships, telling them both, who ever gets me what I want first, gets my money. I have waited as short as like 3 months, to almost a year.

Spare Parts, Thanks for the insight. I do understand about not really being "made to order". Many of the extras are added once they are recieved in the USA.

Toyota has never done this, ever. They are actively building units already. There is no possible way you'll wait long.
The ONLY way your dealer can sell you a vehicle is after allocations. They have to have a VIN, meaning the vehicle is already in the computer and parts alotted to build it. Once a dealer gets an allocation, meaning the VIN is created, its normally about 65-80 days before that vehicle sees the dealer depending on where you are.

2 years is silly. Was that a chatbot internet search result? Because a two year wait time is only for things like maybe…commissioned artwork, construction of large buildings, or maybe a ordering a business jet.

As long as you don’t absolutely have to have exactly a set list of options, you could probably get one the same day if you look at various dealers in your area. Or dealers will trade with other local dealers if you want to stay with a particular dealer.

Welcome from Wisconsin! The 2 yr. thing sounds unrealistic, I don't doubt more like 6 mos., but we will see how tariffs effect things. Good luck.

My dealer (and others) say it is the issue of "allocation", or if Toyota Japan will accept the order. Wish my business was that good !!! So I will continue to simply wait...

In 2023 it took me five months wait listed at four different dealers to get the lunar rock ORP with KDSS and moonroof that I wanted but the wait was worth it to me :)

Toyota isn’t accepting orders. You’re not getting a special build how you want it. You’re getting what’s coming down the pipeline or you’re not getting anything. If you can’t find what you want in local dealer allocations you need to reach out further. I searched the whole lower 48 for almost 16 months to find my last one. Dealers were useless. The number of vehicles built to the specs I wanted were 5-7 per year. This made them impossible to find and local dealers couldn’t get them. I had to search the whole US to find one.

Well, there’s a blue loaded Sport Premium in Ohio. It’ll probably be sold today.

I’m not looking for one. The original poster is. He seems more interested in waiting two years.

look for one within x miles of where you live, takes 15 seconds. or wait two years, your call. They are readily available if you are not stuck on buying from that one dealer and one dealer only. Your dealer is either stupid if they think Toyota takes "orders"(which they don't), or more likely, they are outright lying to you, they are stringing you along so when comes in they can pressure you into paying a market adjustment on top of whatever overpriced options they will throw on top of port accessories.

Personally I think it's bananas they are charging 60-65k for a TRD sport but willing buyers, and all that.

Took me about 3 weeks to find an Ice Cap TRD ORP here in New England. I used the Toyota website to basically build what I was looking for then used their inventory feature on the website set to 500 miles and started looking and reaching out to dealers. Found one that had not been sold and placed a $1k deposit. The Toyota website had a dealer delivery window of May 2 - 22. It arrived at the dealer on May 8th and I had it on the 9th. I paid MSRP.

This is one of the easy hot tickets to find vehicles. Build one on their website and then search for it. Then call the dealer where it’s located and strike up a deal. If you don’t see one today check every few days. There are new VINs being added every day to the Toyota database and the allocations are sending them all over the conUs. Just gotta search for your build and then go get it.

You might be lucky to get a unit already on ground.
Most cases buyers pull out of the deal after delivery to USA.

That's how my friend got a fully loaded GX550 at discounted cost close to invoice. But he had to compromise on the color.
