Finally got the Lift

Finally got the 4Runner lifted.
The set up is Dobinsons IMS with their Billet UCAs. 285/70s

I requested a 3/2 lift, but I didn’t take any before measurements.
Right now it is sitting close to level but I am hoping the front will settle some.

What do you guys think?

It looks good. Both my front and rear settled some after my lift was installed, but I don't recall how much or whether the front or rear dropped more. After a few hundred miles it should settle to it's final ride height and you can adjust the front ride height accordingly.

According to Dobinsons stock measurements are,
Front: 20" Center of hub to bottom of fender.
Rear: 22" Center of hub to bottom of fender.

Which springs and shocks did you go with?

lmao. Its not just the lift that has me sitting in the garage starring at it. I am glad there are others that do it. Makes me feel less creepy This is my first 4Runner, bought it in 2022. Even after i wash/wax it I just look at it and admire it.

 

^^^^ Nothing at all wrong with doing that, you are allowed to ogle the truck in your garage. I do it often....

Dobinsons IMS shocks and then the 505 rear springs and 314 front springs. I know the 314 springs are for 110 pound load, and I don’t have the bumper yet BUT the shop said they would set the front lower until I got the bumper. Maybe they forgot to?

 

ET Dobinsons front shocks? There are two options.

IMS59-50700 - IMS non-resi monotube, adjustable height (0-2.5")
IMS59-50574 - IMS non-resi monotube Extended travel (2-3.5" lifts)

23 3/4 Driver front | 24 2/4 passenger front

24 driver rear | 24 3/4 passenger rear

 

Very useful info. Those shocks can only be set to 2.5" max of lift height. So you'll have to back them down or risk overextending them over bumps and causing them to fail prematurely.

 

Well shit maybe they are the extended ones? I doubt the shop would’ve lead me the complete wrong direction.

hey! I actually just crawled under the 4Runner and my fronts are the 50574!

so it sounds like I have the correct parts, just my front is a bit too high? So the shop should be able to adjust the front to lower it a bit?

 

Oh sweet! Yeah they should be able to. Your preload should be set between 8.4” to 8.9”. So assuming you’re on the high side of that spec they should be able to lower it.

1.How heavy is the bumper/ winch combo you’re looking at?

2. Do you still want 3” of front lift after the bumper install?

 

I am planning to get the C4 Fab low pro bumper which is about 85-90 lbs + the OEM TRD skid plate which is about 22 pounds (but really only an extra 10 pounds since it replaces the ~12 pound regular skid)

no plans for a winch at the moment

and yes, ideally I would like to be at around 3” in the front. But definitely no higher than 3 (which right now I am def higher than 3 in the front)

I am fine with the trade offs of a true 3/2 lift. My issue is solely that the front is higher than 3. Which is probably partly bc I got the 314 springs before getting the bumper

 

That’s the bumper I have. You’ll be removing the front crash bar which was about 20 lbs on my scale. So you’re really only adding about 65 lbs of bumper weight.

I’d back the preload down to get you 3.25” of lift now. The bumper weight and spring sag over time should land you around 3” of lift height.

You can correct the rear lean by adding a spacer to the low side. Probably just a .5” to minimize the risk of over correcting. Should be a sweet setup!

I actually found a brand new C4 low pro bumper that was legit just now posted on FB marketplace so I may go ahead and pick that up now lol
