I am having an issue with my rear wiper. When I get into the car after it has been sitting for more than just a few hours (such as overnight), when I turn the key to start the engine, the rear wiper does a single oscillation, then parks. It doesn't do it again, as in multiple starts doing errands, it only seems to do this if the car has been parked for many hours. Any ideas? Some sort of proximity switch close to being out of adjustment?

I have had funny stuff like that happen when the battery is getting ready to crap out, just a thought.

Interesting theory. There is no other evidence of a bad battery, but I can see the thought process.

As another thought, has anybody replaced a rear wiper assembly on a 2008? It may be that there is a control module incorporated into that assembly that might have a problem. I would imagine it would its "brains" would be integral to the entire module (sans wiper arm), but I wouldn't tackle the job unless good information on how to do it is out there.

In case you need to replace the assembly.
I haven't replaced the assembly, but I have replaced the wiper arm on an 04 - I assume it would be the same for 08. It's plastic with a metal insert and with enough use and ice the arm cracked around the metal insert. The only reason why I am mentioning this is that if you replace the assembly you probably will have to replace the wiper arm. I'm also assuming that you will crack it when you remove it. The arm is forced onto the shaft and the shaft is splined so after you align it when you tighten down the nut is forces it on the splined shaft. You probably would also need the nut that goes on the end of the shaft - is has a built in washer and is serrated on the washer side to lock it on. I think I have a spare nut if you need one.

    Just a heads up.

My buddy has a 2008 and the rear wiper doesn’t make contact with the window when turned on. It also doesn’t rest on the “stopper” when turned off. It sorta skips past the stopper.

Do you know if this could be an adjustment/alignment problem? Or might it need a whole new wiper arm?

I saw something on the FB 4th Gen threads where guys were cutting a little wedge out of the plastic in the arm where the hinge is and that allows better contact.
