2001 SR5 3.4 liter V6 4x4

My 2001 SR5 3.4 liter v6 4x4 evap code po440. Changed gas cap w OEM Toyota. Did not fix. Only once I heard hissing sound near left rear tire and smelled Gas. Any advice is Appreciated.

Sounds like you might need the evap. canister and the purge valve. The canister isn't cheap.. $200-$300, and the purge valve about $75. Exactly what does code: po440 say? Just evap. code or is there more to it?
