My son has been driving my 2006 Sport and now he wants his own, so I’ve started the search and found a 2008 SR5 V6 4wd with 217k miles (his asking is $8700), looked great until I saw the liftgate and took some photos of the frame - doesn’t look promising. He’s found a liftgate, same paint code, but the frame… ugh. I think it’s too far gone from what I see. I guess the search continues.

Keep looking. Pass on this. Years ago I bought a 2003 Sport V6 zero rust for the same price of $8700. With WAY less miles on the clock. There is better out there.

Yep. It's ready for the salvage yard at this point. Note the rust repairs on the exhaust as well - new section welded to crossover pipe, broken hanger rewelded. The entire vehicle has been falling apart from rust for some time now.

I get there are preventative maintenance things one could do to prevent/slow rust, but damn i feel bad for all these people whos vehicles are literally disintegrating and are basically worthless.

Looks better than the numerous 4Runners I looked at while living in Rochester, NY.

Having said that, you still need to walk away from this.

I can't even get rid of a slightly less rusty V8 Limited for $500 lol.
