I broke the drain bolt off as I was tightening it and now it it threaded in there. It was a fumoto valve. Any recommendations for getting it out without stripping the oil pan?

    Thanks!

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 35 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 35yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
In a pinch with brass fittings w/straight threads I’ve taken a flat blade screwdriver and lightly tapped it in snug and backed the broken nipple out. Otherwise ^

The new Fumoto broke during initial install? This is not the norm, Did you happen to snap any pictures of this? I wanted to see where it broke at as this isn't supposed to happen.

Yes it broke right at the thread. I don't feel like I was tightening it too much either. I have had about 5 of these and never had an issue. I was able to get the thread out with an extractor.

Thanks for posting that pic. So glad you were able to fish that piece out. Gotta say that has to be a poor casting (One would think), I would definitely be reaching out to them at least to advise them of this in case they had a run/batch that could be affected.

I have both Fumoto and Valvomax. Brass being weaker than stainless steel is one of the reasons I think the Valvomax is better. From past threads it was pilot error too much torque when they have sheared. My Fumotos are installed already no problems, but if replacing i will buy the Valvomax.

My only issue with the valvomax is that it uses an extra piece. Which I would loose. Because.

    You over-tightened it, obviously...

And didn't even need to drill. Easiest extraction ever.

OP should check to make sure he didn’t suddenly gain super-strength.

Maybe… when I extracted it I was able to do it by hand. No drill or socket so the threads weren’t that tight.
