I’m actively questioning this… I bought my replacement vehicle but I’m shocked that’s insurance totaled this.

    Purchased a 07 220k limited for 9k

    Totaled SR5 @ 134k

I lost about 3.5k on the settlement

Here’s what needs to be replaced:

the whole front/lower front body & assembly (up to radiator support ) radiator not damaged

Side panel (the inner body frame is slightly bent, most significantly where the headlight is located)

there’s no under frame damage, but the inner body frame got a little banged up.

it drives perfectly still, no lights and drives straight…no airbags

I’m just curious… do you think someone would actually be stoked to buy this for 5-9k as is? It was in fantastic shape before and well maintained. I don’t want to give it to insurance if I could find/know that someone existed that would buy this as is..

Also considering just having it for parts but it seems silly to part out a car that’s so mint.

This is the rustiest part of the frame. The whole frame looks like this

I can't see anyone paying over 5k for that.

This seems familiar - did you post this elsewhere on the forum? Rings a bell b/c I remember responding to whoever it was that I have a pristine bolt-on front frame piece in my basement from when I installed my winch bumper. I also have the lower grille thing. Yours for at-cost shipping or we could meet up if you're anywhere near north Georgia.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
With all that damage, rust, age and mileage... I bet it'll sell at a CoPart auction for $900. The labor charges alone are $5k.

2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
Here's a link to my car. Insurance paid me $56,6xx, I think. In California they also pay some other things so I think that was the value of the car itself and not the additional things they do.

The earth mover that rear-ended me not only bent the frame, but there is an inspection picture that shows that the frame was either cracking or that the coating on it was cracked and the frame was bent at that spot.

It's being shipped overseas, to the Netherlands.

When my daughter's car was totaled, her unibody was bent and one of the doors wouldn't even open, all the airbags were deployed... We were paid $26,000 for it, they sold it for $12,000 and the airbags alone were $28,000. That car appears to still be in the United States.

I have a free Carfax account and I get status updates that the car has been worked on and title has changed hands. I have to wonder if real airbags are in that car. Maybe they just have resistors in line to fool the computer.
