This is from a 2019 that a friend is looking at purchasing. It appears that there were sliders at some point that has led to rust around some of the openings in the frame, as well as some suspicious “rash” in some places. Thoughts about the situation?

Im not seeing anything of concern in those pictures. Some rust bubbles behind the paint on a few spots. I’d scrape those off before I hit everything with woolwax.

I would hit those spots with some of this let dry overnight and the fluid film or woolwax

Looks like you caught it in time. That was one of my concerns with slider installations.

I don't really see anything of concern. A new 4R has more rust.

As others have said, that really isn't of concern to me. Pick the product you like and treat the frame (make sure to also treat the frame internals, I'm looking at Eastwood for that on mine). Check it every year, or every other year depending on where you live, and roll with it.

Yeah in all honesty mine had a few knicks underneath last fall upon delivery. It was from I think the chains that secured it on the ship/train or truck for delivery. They were very minor. What you have also looks minor. I was just suggesting if I bought I would correct it and enjoy life. Trust me that is nothing compared to so much else we see on this forum.

Thanks! Would you try and scrape off the rust / rust bubbles before the Eastwood, and does it matter if you prime it first?

I’ll be honest I would call Eastwood and ask to talk to a rep, email them them those pics and ask their advice. For the small knicks I had a shop near me that does fluid film recommended this or POR.

I would think it makes sense to sand that down gingerly and carefully myself. But think Eastwood could guide you better.

Another buddy of mine uses the same stuff on his Tacoma frame every year and touches up stone chips without sanding then re applies fluid film. His frame looks great just takes some tlc
