Gate came down on my 4Runner I don’t know what to do.

My dad just handed me down his 2013 4Runner and not even a month later I do this to it. I tried to enter my friends neighborhood behind someone and the gate came crashing down on me it did this. Any advice would be appreciated and is there anything I can do to get rid of this also how much? Thank you.

 

1) Look into paintless dent repair. I bet they can repair that A pillar for a small amount. How much exactly? I don't know. Call 'em up and get a quote!
2) You can replace that cover piece that's damaged online.
3) Call your dad and tell him you're a bad son and you'll try to do better!
4) Stop tail gaiting people. Hopefully you learned a lesson on what not to do next time.

All in, I think this may cost you about....$200-ish dollars?

Call “The Dent Man” for the metal fix, buy the plastic from an online Toyota dealership with the best pricing plus shipping costs. Sorry man, stuff happens, could have been worse. Welcome to the forum!

I did something similar to this when I tried to pull into my garage with a bicycle on the rack on top I'd say just replace the plastic piece and quit looking at it, it's not that big of a dent

 

That's not too bad, like said above a PDR person could probably get rid of the dent and the plastic piece is replaceable. The place I used to live had those gate arms and I swear every week or two somebody had ran through it lol

 

A shutter dropped on my sister’s car once, building insurance covered it.

She was a resident of the building and I can’t comment on the specifics - could have been anything from user to machine error but that’s what happened.

I hope I don’t have to pay for the gate. They definitely got my plate so we will see. let’s hope not.

 

My coworker just had dents bigger than yours repaired by a PDR guy. He came to our work and repaired it at the parking lot. Took less than an hour and cost her $250. It looked like nothing ever happened and I'm amazed!

And she said the cost depended on where the dents were; this is what the guy told her when she first called. Her dents were on the hood.

 

I’ve gotten a couple of quotes for em. Best is $250, does that seem fair I’m new to all this.

I'd just replace the plastic and roll with the dents you will get more.

I had this happen to my 2008, moons ago when returning to work from lunchbreak. I scanned my badge to get into the garage. As the gate opened, i got halfway through and it came right back down. The building paid my insurance company back after I got it fixed.

$250 for the PDR is not baf at all!

That’s different then trying to sneak thru behind some one.

 

I’ve seen multiple complex/garage gates, with that “one car at a time” signage, shut at wildly different speeds with different timing from “oh it really is one car” to “resident behind me wants me to go since we all can make it”
