    Hi,
I put some 1" wheel spacers on my 01 runner 4 yrs ago and I have had no issues. My runner is a city dweller. I'm replacing my suspension and noticed that the nuts for the wheel spacer only cover about have of my original wheel studs that the spacer mounts to. Even though I haven't had any issues and I don't off road, should I replace the original wheel studs to longer ones so the spacer nuts grab more threads, or is the 1/2" they grab now good? I've attached a picture. Thanks.

Not being an expert on this specifically, it typically isn't a good idea to have the threads on a bolt terminate inside the nut. The bolt should at least go completely through the nut.

Without knowing how tall those nuts are, I can't say that this is 100% accurate, but that would freak me out to see only partial thread engagement on any critical suspension or drive train component. My suggestion would either be to ditch the spacers all together, or immediately swap for some longer studs. Even if your rig is a 100% pavement pounder, this still means that any failure is going to occur on a public road, around traffic, and probably at speed.

Super sketchy. Almost no thread engagement.

I'd remove the spacers until you can source some longer studs

Just for fun I wanted to verify NHRA lug nut rules for reference to what would be safe...

    SECTION 21: GENERAL REGULATIONS, TIRES AND WHEELS:5 5:2 WHEELS (Page 21) (4/24/2019)

The thread engagement on all wheel studs to the lug nut, or lug bolts to wheel hubs, must be equivalent to or greater than the diameter of the stud/bolt. Length of the stud/bolt does not determine permissibility. (Example: A 7/16-inch stud must be thoroughly engaged through the threads in the hex portion of the lug a minimum of 7/16-inch.)
