I no longer need a full fledged 4WD and been looking at AWD. I checked KBB for my '07 (100,000 miles) and found it to be around $8k. Then I looked at what's available within a 300 mile radius in Autotrader. BIG SURPRISE. There are 7 within '02/'12. The average age is 12 years with 167,000 miles while the asking price is $13,000. Any idea why?

It is a nice surprise. Demand is higher than availability. They are quality rigs capable of many more miles than what is listed. I doubt any 2wd models are that strong.

Installed Rago brackets and 4" cube ditch lights. Weather tech mats. Cargo net. Cargo mat. Ordered Gobi rack with ladder.
    I know it's crazy. 2015 PRO'S are still selling over $40k. Unbelievable.

I was hoping some serious off roadder will confirm my suspicion that the reason for the high demand is due to the fact that new 4WD's are so full of electronic gizmos that, as such, are not very desirable to the DYS's guys. Any one knows about this?

Hmmm I don't believe so but that's just me. Any new 4R still has lots and lots of computers running everything what you might be missing in lower models is the "creature comforts." Things like automatic climate control, etc. Any newer car today is one big rolling computer.

I sold a 75' Scottsdale last year. 4WD shifter in the floor next to the 4 speed gear shifter. Not to mention manual Warn lockers on the hubs.

I'll take the little electronic 4WD knob in our T4R any day of the week.

Getting your truck in and out of 4WD shouldn't require a vehicle exit and popeye fore arm strength. Ha ha. ..... don't forget driving in reverse to unlock the lockers.

KBB does their best to judge the value but regional values are usually much different. They also do not seem to be very good at determining the value of 4WD vehicles especially those that have a following such as the 4Runner and the Tacoma. The reason for the price is their popularity among buyers.
