Getting to know my 2013 - could use some insight on the BT connection

I have had my 2013 4Runner for less than a week now and I have been loving it! I forgot how fun it is to discover new things about a vehicle, even if some of them are challenges that have to be overcome!

I put floor liners (Toyota) in it on day one as the rain in California was beginning to fall. Despite various dealer parts counter guys telling me that they were for a 2016 or newer, I bought the 3 piece set and they fit perfectly. At this point I don't see any short comings and I like the 4Runner branding on them!

I was initially excited to discover that there is blue tooth capability as well as USB Aux input and various accessory charging points, but I am struggling to figure some of these functions out. I have the non-Nav head unit, and have gone through the device connection process. Initially, the blue tooth music was fairly automatic. As soon as I got in the car, it started playing where I left off. But... the phone did not connect. So I separately went through the phone pairing process, then the music didn't work. So I tried connecting it to the Aux input via USB and nothing seemed to work.

Can anybody weigh in on this? Fortunately it has a CD player and I have tons of CDs! I was hoping that I could use BT audio and have it automatically transfer the phone in when it rings, but I haven't experienced that yet. It seems that each time I set-up the phone or audio device it deletes the other.

    And another thing...

"Hands Free Power" pops up on the internet with no confident answers. Does anybody know what this feature is of does? The only thing that I have read that makes sense is that it is how you turn the BT signal from the vehicle off. Anybody confirm that this is what it does and all that it does?
