I recently got my 4Runner and sometimes while driving I will hear a Ding Dong sound from inside the cab for no apparent reason. At first I thought it was a ring tone from my Cell phone but it seem to be louder than my cell phone plus my phone didn't have any warnings on it. Any idea of what this is, I would appreciate your help.

Do you have any weight on the front passenger seat that would exceed the limit to require it to be buckled?

My 2022 SR5 Premium 4WD may chime / ding once, or maybe two dings very, very infrequently while I’m driving. Beats the heck out of me what it’s about. I know my back hatch is closed completely. No caution or warning lights come on at those times. I don’t worry about it. I’m afraid to take it in to the dealer over it for fear they might mess with stuff and mess something up. lol!

Any aftermarket gizmos stuck or wired up anywhere? I haven't heard of a "ding dong" but I've heard of "pew" and alarm-ish sounds in vehicles that came with a GPS tracker (think BHPH lots) that wasn't fully removed.

Have you heard the noise with the entertainment system turned off? Do you use GPS navigation, whether integrated or via cell phone app?

Thank you everyone, at least I'm not the only one that has experienced this. I'm going to find out what it is and share it with all of you.

    Thank you again!

That's the Toyota OEM Squatch alarm. It's standard in all 5th gens.

It goes off when it detects Squatch activity in the area.

    Be careful... they're out there...
