EMERGENCY FLASHERS / DOGS

Good Day. 2020 TRD. I have another new dog that i take with me in the vehicle. ( 2 dogs total) They sometimes "ping" in the vehicle while i am out of the vehicle. During the "ping" , they sometimes hit the HAZARD FLASHER switch, which then turns the flashers on. So, i could get a gate for the rear, or crate the dogs, neither which i would like to.

Any suggestions as to what to do? Thank you.

I rigged this up. The blue line is 6 ft long. The snap hook swivels so the line doesn’t get twisted. The prusik loop allows for easy adjustment of length so my dog has as much freedom as I allow. Use with a harness and never a collar.

 

I find dogs are happiest when you let them drive.


All joking aside, I use a crate. Problem solved, and safer for the pup. Most dogs are also significantly calmer in a crate than they are when given free reign of the whole vehicle.

 

I vouch for that product. Super effective.

 

After my pup ate my climate control and radio knobs and turned on the flashers, I came up with a solution that works pretty good. I already put up the barrier talked about in this thread. The wife bought a folding table for working in Airbnbs on our trips. It also fits perfectly to keep the dogs out of the front.

 

Exhaust them before putting them in the car?

My lab can be pretty high energy but he’s never ventured past the obstacle that is the folded rear seats into the front. In my old 3rd gen, he did leap towards the front seats once when he saw my cousin and his rotty, his two favorite person/dog combo on earth.

Otherwise, a good exercise session and he can chill in the back on his own for a long time, even sleeping. If it was a problem and I kept my back seats up more, I would get the pet divider from Victory and attach it to the rear molle panels.

Haha! It's been working great when they need to stay in the truck. They haven't tried to knock it over. I should say the little Brittany hasn't yet.

 

What a bout a plexiglass panel behind the seats or better yet harmess and tether them in to the back seats.

 

I'll probably get some sort of barrier to keep them in the 2nd row while we're parked and driving. I don't think I would tether them because they will randomly start "fighting" in the 2nd row. I would hate to come back to 2 strangled dogs.

 

Are you not concerned for viewing out the back?

Even worse.. you cannot pet your doggy that way.

 

Whatever barrier I get will be see-through. The dogs will still get their pets in.
