97 4Runner limited

Hey all I have a 97 limited with push button 4wd. I’m having some pretty strange problems with it. When I shift my transfer case into neutral it activates 4wd. Also, my 4wd will randomly try to activate when I’m driving normally. I know it’s the actuator because I replaced an already broken one with this one (different issue entirely) I have a few thoughts as to what it is but I would love some help.
