I do believe it is produced by Mobil one but it is to Toyotas specifications. So same but slightly different. It is really good oil and designed specifically for our engines.

Honestly it’s excellent oil but really doesn’t get much notice on the Toyota truck forums. If you head over to Bob is the Oil Guy forum you will see a lot of people running it in other manufacturers cars because of its high quality. I have used it for years with Mobil 1 mixed in and I have noticed it was one the the quietest running oils in my wife’s old RAV4 and current Highlander in addition to the 4Runner. A local dealer sells it for 7.50 a quart which is maybe 5 to 10 bucks (per oil change) more than the Mobil1 on sale.

Buy any decent brand name oil and change it per specifications or sooner. Opinions about oil are like a$$holes everybody has one.

In my opinion any daily driver is fine with any decent brand name oil and regular changes. Then again I'm no scientist or engineer (that kind) that can argue the points of thermal breakdown. The average consumer probably buys what they do because of clever advertising. The great oil debate will rage on as long as cars and engines need it.
