I was in Australia for 3 weeks, and no I wasn't off-roading or doing turism by any means, I was working my tail off so that I can pay for my next mod (LC 300!).:burnrubber:

As I was going around (Brisbane on the east part, and then Perth on the west side), the off-road culture was just so evident that I couldn't help one day but to go to a proper ARB store in Perth. Boy, what a candy store this is with all kinds of gear and stuff for camping and the outdoors.

    20250207_164117.jpg

Anyway, the ARB store caught my attention because they had a cutout model of a locker and the differential in there, it was kind of neat like this.

    20250207_163108.jpg

They also had a bunch of different bumpers and recovery gear, all of this stuff of course we have here thru their distributors etc, but it was neat to see all the different models and setups they have on front bumpers.

    20250207_163411.jpg

It is clear the off-road culture in Australia is something else:hattip:, and one guy said, it is not out of pleasure that we want to have things on our vehicles, it is out pure necessity when we have to go to work and be out there in the wild so how else can we do it. He was hinting more or less like, you americans just want to go over a mountain of rocks just to see if you can!

Anyway, I noticed the aussies are not big on getting bigger tires on their rigs, most people run 33's and that's it. This is my second trip to Aussie land and I must say the folks are super nice and friendly.

Enter at your risk - here. This is a money pit indeed.

They are not allowed, legally (without an engineers report), to raise the vehicle over ~2 inches (50mm) or therefore run larger tires, in most places.

If you look at their (OME) fitment catalog, almost all of their lifts are ~50mm, or noted as offroad only, or for the US market only.

Nice. If anyone is in LA area the FrontRunner Outfitters showroom in Calabasas has some neat setups as well but not as nice as this ARB store

I had no clue. Now it makes sense, there were so many nice looking rigs around but they all were on 33's and nothing bigger than that.

Check out the Australian YouTube channels, they do some wicked off-roading with those vehicles. They do have some pretty strict regulations, but they're good at working with them. Certain vehicles can run bigger tires too, they can fit 35s on most of the Toyota Land cruisers down there without too much work.

Mad Matt, Ronny Dahl, and 4WD 24/7 are great channels to check out.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I knew about that rule, but had forgotten about it. You're right, Aussie's are super friendly and really laid back. They use SUV's/Trucks for what they are designed for: To be utilitarian. They need to get to point a to point be, alive and haul as much cargo as they can. That's how people in Africa, the UAE, and Australian/NZ use 'em.

Americans (mainly) see them as a "Lifestyle" vehicle.

Yep it's necessity. The ARB bumpers are called "bull bars" because they're designed for hitting bulls:

After being there for over 3 weeks, I felt in love with the LC300 which I know is our LX700 equivalent here. My goal is to get into one of these units if they ever come to the US market. That's why I am going to start a gofundme page and get donations going. :spending:20250216_113958.jpg 20250216_114013.jpg

^Does this particular example have the advertised fingerprint reader on the door handles (for adjusting seat/steering column presets)?

It does in several models. I went to a dealer and got inside one of them. I didn't want to leave.

The 76 series is the one I'd want. This is Ronny Dahl's 2024 on 35's.

He got nothing, apparently. And so we don't want to derail the thread, here is the ARB Jeep stuff ;) 20250222_164510.jpg
They said the Jeep culture hasn't caught on despite infinite amount of efforts and incentives.

4WP is a national chain and they can choke on a dick. They cater mainly to the bros. Reminds me of going into a Harley shop and seeing all the pimped rides in the parking lot and all the T-shirt wearers inside strutting their badassness; but no one is talking about riding to Alaska, only about when the poker run starts. No comparison to OP's experience at a legit "adventure" shop.
