hey guys. I got some Phillips H11's for my low beams and they don't fit in my '18 t4r. There are little tabs on each side of the Philips bulb base that won't allow it to plug into the harness.

Anyone have aftermarket bulbs and run into a similar situation? Any ideas here?

    Is the t4r H11 an atypical H11?

So it looks to me like H11 bulbs have these little tabs on the sides of the base. The bulb that came out of my 4runner low beam doesn't have the tabs. And the harness seemingly won't accept a bulb with the tabs.

The OEM bulbs are Kyoto (or something like that- i didn't recognize the brand). Can someone who has installed aftermarket halogen bulbs confirm what I'm seeing here?

I might have this figured out... I think I confused the high beam for low beam on the truck. So I was attempting to put the new H11 low beam bulbs into the high beam (9005) harness.

    Will confirm tomorrow.

Are you sure it is the tabs or the rubber seal?

I'll take pics of the bulbs when I get back after it tomorrow. The bulbs look very similar (H11 low beam and 9005 high beam). But the H11 has three tiny tabs on the base of the bulb that wouldn't fit the harness-- that led me to conclude I must have pulled the wrong harness.

To avoid confusion in the thread, I'm not going to speculate any more here until I actually lift the hood and pull out the bulbs again tomorrow.

I did confirm that I was attempting to put the H11 low beam bulb into the high beam harness. Problem solved.

New problem- how do you get the low beam bulb out? Does that entire circular gray piece come out?

Well, the "mod" has been accomplished. Installed Philips +100's. A great bulb. Slightly brighter than stock and they last about 2 years for me. Been using them for a few years now. Amazon.

Make sure you remove the rear Low Beam Cap from the headlight, stick your hand in there to UNPLUG the H11. Twist the bulb out and should be pretty straight forward
