Does anyone make a complete exterior blackout kit? I see yota x and 4runner lifestyle have parts and pieces but no complete kit listed. Both companies are extremely hard to get ahold of for questions.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I haven't been able to find one that is complete. They have two batches:

    1) Black outs for bumpers, trim, etc.
    2) Black outs for emblems.

Do you know if anyone makes side/rocker chrome covers. I can find most everything but that and the rear bumper trim piece.

Ok here is what I learned. No one has a complete kit. I had to vinyl wrap the side lower chrome trim and the one on the rear bumper. Wasnt really as hard as I thought it would be.I had to change the weather stripping on the window trim. It was half the price to order toyota part from someone in japan on ebay than to buy from toyota here. 260 vs 130 shipped.
I had to paint the roof rack, rear door garnish, and front top bumper. Used SEM 39143 awesome stuffed worked well just scuffed up and wiped down then sprayed. The front bottom bumper and chrome trim pieces got covers from 4runner lifestyle. If you have no problems with your order and know what exactly you need to order with no questions then use them BUT if you need to speak to them or have an issue they absolutely SUCK.
Limited sailpanel badges, door handle covers and rear door garnish cover ( which ended up being just letters and toyota emblem not a one piece cover like I thought) from yota expedition. Same thing if you need to speak with a human being forget it. Took a week for an email reply which didnt answer my question so another week to get an answer to learn I ordered the wrong thing. In both cases if I could have just spoke with a human for 1 minute it would have been soooo much easier. So that got everything blacked out.
Now on the other end of the spectrum. I bought a sony wireless apple car play radio from trail grid pro. During the install two different times I had a question. I picked up my phone and immediately spoke with someone who answered my question within 1 minute of me calling them. That was great!!!! Archaic tailghts from Amazon was easy install. Anyway the wife is happy with it. Thats all that matters.

I did a chrome delete on my 2015 Limited. No need to buy vinyl wrap or remove any trim. There are blackout kits — one for the front bumper and bottom chrome strips on the front (Amazon) and you can also find a kit to cover the back 4Runner emblem on the tailgate. I used the covers for the door handles—the ones with the openings for the smart key. I went with Plasti Dip to cover the chrome strips on the window sills, the bottom of the door, the edge of the running board, the strip on the bottom of the tailgate, and the complete roof rack (I removed the roof rack to do it. YouTube video on that as well—a lot easier than I expected. They make covers for the rack mounts but they are shiny and plastic looking, so I just used the Plasti Dip on the entire rack). I only used the vinyl cover strips on the wheels, but plan to get them powder coated when I switch tires. I got the Plasti Dip, paint masking paper/tape, and Glossifier (final coats over the Plasti Dip on Amazon and really think it’s the way to go—if you take your time and follow the instructions, it will look factory). Plenty of videos on the process and if you want to change it later, you can just peel it off. I had the ABS overlays for the entire back tailgate emblem, but used the Plasti Dip instead because I liked the finish. I ended up using the Toyota circles emblem on the rear tailgate because I opened it and it scraped the garaged door—much easier to put on the overlay than re-tape and just repaint the circles. Recommend about four coats with at least 20 minutes or so drying time between each coat. To do it right, you will need about three cans. Also switched out the taillights with black lens taillights—very easy and video also available on that as well.

Not in these parts (or most places) but personal preference is always in.

That's a nice looking rig. Great job blacking it out. That color combo plus the wheels/tire setup really make it stand out.

That’s actually very funny and I wish your movement well but hey, according to your profile you say your T4R identifies as a Prius. I believe you have other perhaps bigger problems than saving chrome.

I love chrome myself but on the right car. A 1966 pontiac gran prix, 1967 fairlane 500, or a 1970 chevelle but on todays cars not so much. Even the trucks through the 80s looked great with chrome. I would NEVER blackout a 1957 Chevy bel air.

I’m totally with you on that. I actually was in my teens and 20’s in the 70’s and had some of those cars. I restored several mid-60’s Mustangs, and had the chrome wire wheel covers with the spinners (actually still have a complete set in the attic). Yes, truly chrome had its day and who knows what will happen in the future? The Plasti Dip on my Limited can be peeled right off. :)

Agreed! I still have a fondness for my dad's 83 GMC Sierra. It was a single cab, with ALL the chrome possible. Bumpers, rocker panels, mirrors (those large trailer ones), grill, etc.. It even had the chrome wagon wheels and bed rails.

It had dual gas tanks and was red over red interior. VELOUR red interior.

I would wash it for him and make sure all that chrome looked like mirrors. Maybe that's why I like seeing chrome on certain vehicles, it makes me think of great memories I had with my dad growing up.
