Hello, new to the forum. I have a 93 Toyota 4runner that can't pass smog. I was told it could take 4000 to repair it. There's a few dings and what not but I like it alot. I have another car I'm using. Should I try to just sell it cheap, fix it and keep it and sell my Honda crv, or spend quite a bit to fix it and sell it for more?

Edit: my bad for not giving more information, again new to this. 2 different mechanics told me it was a misfire in one of the cylinders, something with rings (not to knowledgeable).

    What’s even the issue?

I wouldn’t pay the money to fix planning to sell, that’s for sure.

How in the world can we tell if its worth it or not?

No pics of condition. Hell don't even know why it won't pass.

So I will look into my crystal ball (I don't have one) and say yes its worth it.......

'93 is pre-OBD2? How did the smog inspection station test it? Tailpipe sniffer?

Can you take a different route, so you don't have to pass smog, maybe through the mountains?
