Had to drive somewhat aggresively yesterday to get through a couple snow drifts in the driveway. Vehicle beeped at me a few times while doing so, assuming i was being alerted to a traction control issue.

Now today upon starting the vehicle i have a bunch of lights lite up, VCS off, vcs trac, (symbol with swirving tires) and engine light on..
Vehicle seems to run fine.. what the heck did i break?

Check underneath on your front knuckles and make sure you're not dangling any wires...sounds like your ABS sensor might be moved a smidge or more...

I checked and all sensors are still plugged in. I disconnected the battery and the lights are off when i reconnected and relearned idle. Have to drive it yet to see if they come back on.

I drove around the block and all the lights stayed off.. so time will tell. Thanks for sharing your issue, could be the same. Was your engine light on as well as all the traction lights?

Maybe you got snow packed around a sensor or two.

I thought that at first, but when i checked to make sure all sensors were plugged in, it was clear of all snow.. maybe that was the issue and after my original trip out everything got cleared out, but required a battery trip to reset things...

I tried using my diagnostic scanner but the peice of junk would just freeze up.

Next time i punch through some drifts I will hit the center diff lock first to disengage the vcs system. Perhaps that was a mistake the first time around.

Or maybe if you get a warm spell you can do a gentle rinse of the underside at a spray wash to dislodge any other potential crud.

    Hopefully just a computer brain-fart.

I had a similar issue with my '03 after hitting some deceptively deep slush at probably 30-40 MPH. Dash lights galore, and it even went into limp mode. Took it to a dealership, and they cleared the codes, and the issue never returned.

Slightly different in a 4th gen...if you really want to lose some nannies while wheeling, unplug the connector with the red wire on the 4wd module off the ABS brains under the hood...no altrack, vsc, abs...just wheel spin and muscle!! Ha! Plug it back in and restart and it's like nothing happened!

I see another possibility to throw these lights too.. Throttle response boxes.

PCs are known for their challenges in Tundras and Tacos...Sprint Boosters are better...but truly, some VFtuning is the best!

The problem with this is that A-TRAC rules! :D

I generally turn off traction control when I'm in 4hi, though.

I thought those issues usually occurred when people would change settings while under throttle. Although I haven't looked into it that deeply. I like the throttle how it is.

Agreed that a tune is a better investment if you actually want to gain something.

I agree, it rules going uphill unless you're needing wheelspin without limits to push through some drifts...works great, too, for pulling Jeeps out!

I have a knock off pedal commander and it was going to be my next thing to look at if the battery reset didnt seem to clear things.

    A-TRAC doesn't limit throttle.

I do use it more for technical obstacles. If I'm doing stuff where I want more wheel speed, I'm usually in 4hi anyway.

Good call. Hopefully the reset will end up taking care of it.

Good eye! I thought about whether the Hike-It controller was the culprit. A dealership and my local mechanic each diagnosed the left rear wheel speed sensor. I replaced it and the problem went away. Been running the Hike-It for over 35,000 miles with no problems. Fingers crossed…
