Raptor Lights

I am still waiting for them to arrive, just did this to test for fuse box clearance. I will find a fuse that’s hot when the ignition is on. It really doesn't matter, since pulling current out of the hot side of the fuse with the add-a-fuse. It does cause the fuse box cover the bulge a bit, may cut a small piece out so no bulge

 

what do you recommend? I’ve been hearing putting the lights fuse into everywhere. Just don’t want the 4Runner to shut down if the fuse blows.

 

I was just messing. I don't really care, or know anything about wiring raptor lights, as I would never put them on my 4R.

 

I put mine on the KDSS fuse since I don’t have KDSS. I notice a lot of people on YouTube are installing the add a fuse on backwards. I took a test light to verify which side has power and install the add a fuse accordingly. If you install it backwards, if there’s a short, it blows both fuses. If added correctly, whatever source has the short will blow that fuse, not both.

 

I do like a smart Ryan.
So many people just need the answer without verifying a wire.

Correct, and you only should put a fuse in the top socket of the Add-a-Fuse in your example. That’s a best case since no other circuit in the truck is involved.

 

IMO I would pass on the raptor lights.The added wires in the engine bay will evetually result in one or more of the lights going out. The ground wires usually fail where the 4 wires meet into one. If your dead set on getting them run the power to the cabin fuse box the oreintation of the add a fuse in the engine bay fuse panel will be incorrect and having mud and water get int he panel by cutting or squeezing a wire thru the lid isnt good.

 

This. The only reason trucks need them is because of how wide they are. I remember when it was only the Ford/Chevy F-350 or 3500's that got them. Even then...only the dually's and only on the top of the cab.
