    Hello friends,

    I own a 02 SR5 with 94k miles.

Let me start off by saying I’m not mechanically inclined.

I do not have any codes so I’m hoping one of you guys have had this issue.

I have noticed that my car will have this slight hesitation. While I’m driving , as I pull up to a stop sign … and then press the gas … I notice the throttle response just isn’t there… I have to release the gas and press again for it to go back to normal . It’s almost like it bogs down.

I also notice that when I’m making a left turn from a stop , for example , waiting to make a left turn in traffic … the car will bog down… sometimes leaving it too close for comfort when a car is heading my way. I hope this is a simple fix and I really am sorry if this has been posted before. I tried searching.

    thank you for your help!

Hard to say. It can be a few things.

Could be fuel related. Bad fuel regulator, weakening fuel pump. You may be getting fuel starvation when trying to take off from a stop or left turn.

Could be Throttle Body related. Bad throttle or pedal position sensors are not letting the ECU know how to accelerate properly.

My bet would be on a fuel issue. I would take it to a mechanic and ask them to to do a fuel pressure test.

Sounds like a dirty throttle body to me. I've had a similar issue before on a different rig. Cleaning the throttle body fixed the stumble for me.
Run some sea foam through it and see if it goes away. For like $10 a can it's worth a shot.

As stated above it could be a sensor, dirty fuel filter, bad fuel, ignition issue, etc.
Start with the cheapest and most obvious things.

Don't be afraid to ask a trusted technician (ideally at an independent shop, not auto parts store or 5 minute oil change spot)

Have you pulled the spark plugs to check them? Are they all uniform?

The stalling when turning left really makes it seem more like fuel, than spark or air...

Have you checked for a vacuum leak? I pulled my supercharger off for service, and when I replaced it...I somehow pinched the intake gasket.
I would press the accelerator and there was a pause, then boost would build...usually boost comes on ASAP w/o a lag

Have you checked your PCV valve? It would have to be pretty bad to cause this, but its cheap and easy to fix

I went with the recomended four prong spark plug instead of oem. It burnt all four prongs off of one plug. A simple tune up may be needed.

So I’m still having this issue. I notice that when my 4Runner bogs down, the traction control light comes out quickly then goes away in a second. Any idea?
