Most electronics I do myself, but in this case I was happy to have someone else (insured) cutting into starting wires etc :bananadead: Had the Compustar T12 remote start system installed on Friday and added the alarm module and the EZ Go hands free module. The T12 comes with 2, 2 way remotes whereas the T11 comes with the LCD 2 way and a normal 1 way. The range is 3 miles (confirmed) which is pretty good for a key remote with no cellular, I think. The EZ Go is nice because it will disarm and unlock the doors when you step within the range of the sensor, and then again arm the system when you leave the area. So hands full of stuff, close the door and walk away without having to fumble for the key to lock it. Now with the weather getting darn cold, it's nice having it warming up before having to go outside..

I know there have been questions before about remote starts. With this, I hold the start button down. The remote beeps and within about 5 seconds the truck starts. The 15 minute timer is then displayed on the remote and is adjustable to longer times. The truck remains locked. Unlock/disarm and get in without the system shutting off, put the key in the ignition and turn to ON, good to go. If you press the brake before turning the key to ON, the system will shut it down.

Installed a compustar in mine, 4 days after having it. I love it. Big time with it being 20 degrees in the am, and just getting colder. Works like a champ.

Have the Compustar in my Honda for about 8 years now and it's worked flawless. Not the bells and whistles you have but in eight years a lot of things change sometimes for the better!

What is a reasonable ballpark sum to expect to pay for something like this? I'm really interested in having the same thing done for mine.

    Thanks!

I can look, as i know i have the sales ticket filed away, and depending on the unit (fucking sky is the limit with this shit, from low teir to butter your scone in the morning, and make you coffee).. but i wanna say i paid around 150 for the unit i got. Im not 100% thought, but around that. I think the install quote was around 100-150 to have it put in, but i just did it. Removal of a few dash panels, find the right sockets, and plug and play. Took me about 2 and a half hours, while watching youtube vids (on how to remove panels, and all that) and drinking a beer.
Either a compustar unit, or the one built for 4runners, some one on here posted ( i stuggle to recall the name,.. 12volt solutions??? something like that??) or any other decent unit,.. i HIGHLY recommend. Highly. I absolutely love mine... no sure why, lol, but i do. Love having it.

It's really 12volt.solutions.com. I have one in my 15 Ltd. Literally 10 minutes installation.

Well, I wish mine was that low :spending: Mine ran almost $900 installed after tax. It took the shop a total of about 10hrs and that's including them changing some options the next day after I had it home. I tried making the changes myself with the fob, but without the OP500 programming tool (kinda like a code reader) it is near impossible with all the option groups navigating by beeps and flashes of the lights to know where in the menu you are. Anyway, I love it and don't have a problem spending money as long as I get what I'm looking for. Not sure if we are comparing the same model of Compustar, there are some pretty hefty price differences between the various ones.
