Legal tint for Hawaii?

    Anybody knows what is the legal tint for hawaii? I live on lanai and i looking to put 20% on my runner,, i have 35% on my tacoma but 20% will that past safty,, maui county dont have recon yet

    I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
    quick check shows this:

    We don't have any safety checks where I live so even though ours are the same its pretty easy to go darker, I'm not sure how aggressive checks are where you live.

    Ceramic Coated TRD grey rims 80% tint all around Lighting: Red LED interior lighting Atack LED SUPER Brite white constant yellow front turn sigs LED super bright reverse lights Body Mods: Tyger rear step Bumper Tyger Front Nerf Bumper GREENLANE OFFROAD Roof Rack and Real ladder (Awesome) and no need to replace the rear hatch hydraulic arms. I cannot say enough about these guys especially because their shipping was completely reasonable. Custom interior: custom rear window power button and unlock button (found here in forums) Pedal Commander (this really does give your vehicle more get up and go) RAGO Mollie side trunk panels (Awesome but pricy) Victory center roof Mollie Panel (Ham radio mount) DIY rear sleeping platform (for camping)
    ok so for the driver and passenger front windows max 35% for everything else as dark as you want it all the way to 95%

    95% tint is almost clear.

    But yes Hawaii is 35% on front side windows. Backs on SUVs and trucks can be dark as wanted. Cars cannot have darker than 35% period.

    sorry I forgot it is backwards when dealing with tint so you can go all the way t o5% on all SUV windowe except for the front driver and passenger

    In my area: make an appointment with an eye doctor. If your eyes are photophobic (sensitive to light) you can get a form signed. Then you can go 20% on the side windows. And it is listed as “sunshading” on your registration...

    Generally most cops aren't going to mess with you about it. There are some Barney Fife's out there, but most don't care unless you're just a complete jackass that's pissing off society. They might bring it up if they pull you over for something else, but just roll your windows down as you're getting pulled over.
