King shocks not working

    Hi Guys i have a toyota fortuner 2022 with King 2.5 Oem series installed. The rear shocks are crap they make the vehicle fly when ever going through over a speed bump. Is this possible that i got a bad set of shocks?
    I have got them tuned multiple times but no improvement. Other people
    With same vehicle say theirs ride super nice.
    I am thinking about getting fox 2.5 from accutune do you think it will make a difference?

    A local garage did the tuning they are well known here.
    I am running 600 pounds king springs in front (tried 550 before) and stock in rear.

    Fox and King will be similar once tuned and Accutune can do either. You won't see a difference so unless you can refund what you have it'll be better to just work with them.

    I am not from the US so i have two options. Either to sell my current set of kings and buy new from accutune or just keep my current set and live with it.
    I have a good offer for my current set.
    Will it be wise to purchase kings again from accutune? Isit possible i got a bad set the first time?

    Front is fine but rear is rough. For example when going over a speed bump at speed or slow it feels like the rear tires jumps up in the air.

    How high are you lifted in front & rear? I lifted mine 2.5" up front and 1" in the rear and it rode rough when going over speed bumps/ potholes, my solution that worked for me was replacing rear sway bar end links with longer ones made the ride a Lot better, you may wan t to try that first.

    2-2.5 in front and no lift in rear.
    Can you please explain what you did in detail and if it completely solved your problem?

    I replaced my suspension setup with the Fox OEM set, replaced front springs & rear springs with Eibach springs (~2.5" front lift, rear lift 1") it rode rough in the rear because rear sway bar was in a bind, so i replaced rear sway bar end links with adjustable links made the ride way better

    Pressure is fine. A guy got me stock springs from some place i have some doubt that they are exactly according to factory specs as they seem thicker. But still the ride shouldnt be that bad.

    I would venture to say the springs are the problem, but just a guess on my part. This is my 2017 SR-5 with 2 1/2 “ front with 2”rear OME springs. Very nice ride on and off road.

    Does mine look oem to you? Before this i had ironman springs which were stiffer so when i switched the ride improved. The springs i have currently are not the originals that came with the car. Some guy sourced these for me.

    Do you know how similar the Fortuner is to the 5th gen 4runner? Those rear springs seem narrower and taller than than my stock 4runner springs.

    I think they are quite similar their shocks are interchangeable. What impact does narrower and taller springs have?
    I too think that these springs are taller than fortuner oem springs and to me looks thicker too

    End links don't have anything to do with the bounciness of a vehicle, it's just going to transfer some energy from one side to the other over one-sided bumps and cause squat in the corners. They can change how much by changing the angle (and therefore leverage) of the sway bar, but if there are issues with bouncing there are other issues.

    More than likely, if a vehicle is bouncing there is a valving issue.

    Taller springs make it taller, the extra turns and thicker coil diameter will mean different spring rate. The spring seats on the axle are also matched to the coil ends, so if your coils don’t match, they probably don’t interface very well with the seat.

    This is my stock 5th gen coil

    The bottom of the coil chokes down in diameter compared to the top. Correctly fitting aftermarket coils will coils also choke down in diameter so they fit over the protrusion on the coil seat, like thisIMG_5384.jpg

    The top of the coils are cut flat, and go flat against the top seat (actually, on a rubber isolator with a bump stop)

    The coils you pictured don’t look anything like these. If the seats on your Fortuner are anything like they are in the 4runner, those things probably fit like garbage in there, and if they shift around could be eating into the steel.

    I suspect these are too long, causing the spring coils to stack solid before the axle hits the bumpstops.
    The Fortuner has the coil springs on beefed up lower links (making them kinda like trailing arms), so they are narrower and longer than 4Runner's. Even so, I suspect @Aounm92's springs are too long.

    Too long is only an issue if they compress into themselves much like too short is only applicable when they unseat at droop... Otherwise spring rate is pretty obvious when it's wrong because long springs need lower rates than short ones for a given ride height. If you install a 600# spring that's 2" too long for the target you'd see a fair bit of extra lift.

    This is why tuning is important because a stiffer short spring and softer long spring can fit the same application but they will require significantly different valving.
